ParticipantPossibly leaking into the base, activating anti-flood. Switching off for a few weeks allows for leakage to evaporate, hence will run again, but only until possible drip leaks enough to re-trigger anti-flood.
Next time it refuses to run, power off, tilt machine back 45° to drain. If it then runs ok, it’s looking more likely it’s the above.

ParticipantCheck for a broken wire in the harness to the motor. Normally in the foamed section of wires coming up from base of cabinet to motor plug.

ParticipantIt’s possible to take the front panel and banjo off, but I find it less of a faff just taking the drum out.

ParticipantSwitch off power, take lid off and check wiring to PCB. Prone to melting at the heater connection. And rarely, if the heater has been changed recently, check wiring coming into machine from heater. Seen it get tangled around motor/pulleys.

Thanks a lot. I’ll give this a check

ParticipantPossible power supply issue? Checked the socket?

ParticipantNormally a fault with one of the pumps that takes out the board. Good idea to replace both.

ParticipantThere’s a pressure sensor on the heater that goes faulty. So even though you’re getting a good reading via the element, it never gets powered due to the faulty switch.

ParticipantIs it an integrated appliance? If so, is it maybe pushed too far into the carcass, disallowing the doors to fully close?

ParticipantOr just disconnect the sensor from the PCB. This puts the unit into a timed cycle instead?
Inverappin
ParticipantYou’ve answered your own question, fridge defrost heater will, more than likely, be leaking to earth. Unplug it and see if it trips.

ParticipantI had a similar issue with my Bosch dishwasher, turned out to be a fault with the flow meter in the heat exchanger.

ParticipantIf it’s a copper pipe, just feel the pipe and see if it’s warm?
Inverappin
ParticipantIs it not supposed to? It’s the cooling fan, no?

ParticipantThanks very much for your help Dave.
