The part n/o you gave when i looked up didnt show an earth tag, but as Martin pointed out there are ways and means to effect a safe repair.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WDL540P UK C dryer ntc
They have changed to differant part due to that one causing so many problems, have you checked the dryer element had a few of these or the wiring breaking causing these faults also.

ParticipantRe: Indesit WIDL126uk sticking on 90 degree wash
I would be going for the NTC as the wash one causes various faults due to them breaking down over time as they seem to become porous over time.

ParticipantRe: ind idl40
Check spray arms, and also for an air lock in pressure hose which can cause this fault also.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aqualtis front weight?
I have known a couple engineers that have managed to squeeze the balance weight in from the bottom, only problem is the new balance weight came loose and a new drum was required, thats the main failure on the Aqualtis is the balance weight coming loose, the 1st ones had a shakeproof washer on all the bolts and none of them seem to come loose, so unless you loctite the buggers in you will be back i’m afraid.
