The next few weeks will be both nervous ones and interesting ones for me. But I’m going to stand my ground as I will NOT end up being a company that has to rely on fraudulent invoices just to keep the work. I’d rather lose it, re-structure, dust off and plod on!
Adrian.
Exactly what I think Ade, I also use a Sub Contract Engineer and he laughed his a**e off when I told him about the 28 day guarantee and that he would be on about £25 a completed call instead of £35, I had the same response f*** off !!
So no more DSG work for my Company as of 31st July 2010 and I will have to take the consequences if other work is withheld from me, mind you I don’t think some of the ‘Premium Brand’ Companies will be too chuffed if RC stop using us seeing as I always attend the latest training days and not only service it I also sell it as well !!

Will do Martin, I haven’t checked it for a few weeks, I might remove their adverts as don’t make much on it and they keep putting competitors on them !!!

I totally sympathize and agree with you Ade, a deduction such as this is totally outrageous without consultation with you the Agent concerned, I had serious issues with the Repaircare Chargeable contract as I could see many problems with a ‘fixed price inclusive of parts’ deal and after doing about half a dozen calls called time on it as a did a few others.
I believe the T&C’s of the contract have been changed a few times since it’s inception due to bad publicity etc and certain brands like Miele are not accepted because of cost of spares etc, but this type of thing was bound to happen as RC must be losing money hand over fist on this contract, how on earth they can give a ‘fixed price including parts’ to a customer over the phone without someone looking at the appliance is beyond me, they might win on some but I know some customers have had really old appliances repaired at huge cost to RC, appliances like SMEG are also difficult to obtain technical information, parts information as well, but knowing you Ade I am sure you went through PNE system with RC and did everything in your power to help this customer so this arbitrary deduction from you disgraceful IMHO

All done Martin, thanks again for your help, overflow tube to base clogged with fluff and I took your recommendation of clearing pump tube and all other materials from.
How do these dryers sense the water tank is full, as just out of curiosity I filled up the tank and watched it overflow when the pump came on but it didn’t stop the machine and the indicator for tank full didn’t come on?

Yes I did Alex, mine was around 55{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}, still couldn’t carry on with it though.
As I said before I finished DSG with Repaircare not just because of the rate cuts but lots of reasons over a long period of time, I just couldn’t do it anymore and will risk it in the effort to get better contracts on better terms.

I guess when companies are middlemen, advertise their profits, the organisation supplying the work looks at its costs and decides it would be in its own financial interest to change its business portfolio, this is what happens when it does not go the way they wanted.
I could be wrong.
We’ll see.
WTF !!! :hmm:

Even worse than the SMEG is the Siltal made CDA CI592 washer dryer, impossible without removing the tub, I’ve tried before for hours on them and couldn’t change one, have the scars to prove it :eeek:

Thanks Martin, do you have to take the drum out to get at the pump like a Crosslee ?

ParticipantRe: DSG/RepairCare Rate Cuts
I have also stopped all DSG work with RC, not solely because of the cut in fees but many other issues I had with the contract over many years that I didn’t like, for quite some while I had been considering stopping this particular contract before the cuts came into place so it just made my mind up that the time had come to finish it, I do not employ engineers directly but I have a couple of self employed engineers who help me out and there was no way they were going to take a reduction so that was the final straw.
The pressure on you guys who employ multiple engineers must be immense, to make people redundant or do the work at a loss, hard choice as getting good engineers is not easy so if you let them go and if you manage to get work from another source later you won’t get those engineers back so easy, peoples homes, livelihoods and businesses are on the line here so some truth from the parties involved should be forthcoming as a matter of urgency but I won’t hold my breath.

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
Customer today: Can you call and look at my washing machine?
Me: Certainly (explain service charge etc ..) what make is it and what is the problem?
Cust: Don’t know what make it is I’m at work, it’s just not working?
Me: How old is it then and just roughly whats wrong?
Cust: Well it must be 15 years old, my housekeeper says it’s not working 😯After 15 years of having this thing her kitchen she had no idea of what make it was or how it worked, amazing :rolling:

Just to update the thread I fitted the new soap box and it was a much tighter fit when you pushed the drawer in, called the customer and all is ok so far so hopefully problem resolved 🙂
