    Re: Domestic Appliance Testing

Thanks for the info Martin, the only question I have is 8.0 ohms passing the test, I take it that was tested on a circuit with an RCD in place as being an ex Electricity Board Electrician and Engineer we were always taught that less than 1.0 ohm passed unless on an RCD circuit where a higher reading was acceptable, but as you said to go into far deeper would be a bit pointless but RCD protected circuits are totally different to rewireable or cartridge type fuse protected circuits, admittadly you don’t see so many of them these days.

I do appreciate you have tried to keep it simple for everyone in general and I am not criticising in any way at all, in fact the more Engineers know about correct testing procedures the better, I have always done exactly the same tests as you have put in the document not for just the customers safety but my own as well. 😀

Tpp right Martin, Repaircare must be spending a shed load with Google, they come top everytime, I’ve even had someone look at the SEO on my site and I’m lucky to get on the 2nd page !! :rolls:

I reckon it has to be touch control if a filter card is not listed, TBH they are normally only on induction hobs not normal ceramics, BSH parts are really expensive got the same problem with a built in microwave gonna cost about £350 to repair it 😯

Hi Steve, has it got a seperate filter card for the mains supply, I had a Neff induction hob with R/H side not working and it was the filter card not the touch control faulty

Basically unless you are an authorised Service Agent working for a manufacturer or service provider getting specific manufacturer training will be very difficult, have a look in training forum you might get some pointers there.

If the end 2 lights are flashing and its a SMEG its aborted or finished programme, try the dispenser, take front panel off and disconnect the solenoid leads on the dispenser and connect another dispenser to see if it runs ok then.

SMEG dispensers can make the machine just stop after a few minutes, hope this helps 🙂

Had a washer many years ago when I worked for SWEB (Electricity Board) where Granny had been looking after the kids and didn’t know about disposable nappies, needless to say a serious mess was made of the machine and the kitchen when she tried to wash a load of them, nightmare 😯
