KeymasterRe: Diplomat ADP 8122
Jonsco,
Sorry I missed this one. 😳
It sounds like the E2 error thing but on that model it’s not. It could be a metering tank problem or a couple of other things but it’s going to be really hard to advise any further on the net.
Engineer case I’m afraid. 😕

KeymasterRe: Labour Rates
Yeah the thing that you have to remember here is that apart from the obvious geographical and company differences you also have product variations as well. By that I mean gas and refrigeration work which is substantially higher than a washer in many instances, quite rightly too I think.
So in effect to do this (which I think we probably eventually will at some stage) we’d have to list the maximum charge made in each product area to be coming clean as it were.
But then many people charge different rates on different brands too! 😕
And some charge per the time spent. 😕
See, not just to easy is it? 😆

KeymasterRe: e-Jobs
That can be a dangerous path Richard in terms of marketing ourselves well and I think that the forums, in conjunction with the use of the Advisory Council, will be more than sufficient for now.
In the future, you never know what’ll happen. 😉

KeymasterFrank,
Usually most of these door seals are intended to be replaced by double jointed two man teams and there is a “knack” to doing them that defies explanation to be honest. Plus they’re all different just to make it even more fun, some of them take us a lot of time to get right on and it’s only through experience that you learn the best way for each appliance.
All I can advise is to keep trying and have the plasters to hand for the little cuts you may recieve. 😉

KeymasterRe: Smeg DWD61 themostat
There’s three variants Dave, I THINK it’s just colour so anyway, part numbers are…
818730825 – Tank Stat (not on my price list :?)
806890373 – Heater (£21.29 list)
Again, if you’re stuck, the tother Dave should be able to get them.

KeymasterHi Dave,
ODRGKTC is the part number, listed at £13.13 and if you’re stuck the other Dave should be able to get that for you.

KeymasterCould be the stat, I’ve seen it happen before. Can also be a “hot spot” on the element or something lying on the element across the stat as well.
Price etc. is no problem and Dave or I will check that in the morning for you.

KeymasterYeah, if you want on the initial run please get the info back as we won’t be adding your details just because we feel like it!
But I was having a conversation this evening with a friend and we got onto the subject and the comment was, “what would happen if e-Jobs grew in time with the hits on a percentage basis, how many calls would the site be handling?”. I have to admit, I never quite thought on it that way and, it’s a bit of a scary thought really.
Never mind, the next few weeks will tell a tale and the system mails me back the “dead” calls, i.e., the ones that no-one gets as they’re not registered or there’s nobody in the area at least so we should even be able to tell you how many calls were in that catagory in any postal region. Nice eh.
Oh and one parting thought on this subject, you lot have had advanced warning of all this, you’ve known about it for months now and had the opportunity to grab the areas/brands you want. All I’m gonna say is… things change and there’s lots of competition out there.

KeymasterDoubtless a PCB failure on it, it’s a Fagor in a skirt and they don’t have in in the UK at the moment either just for good measure. But in fairness the bits are cheap and the charge you’ve been quoted seems a bit on the high side.
UK service is handled by Anglo Iberian Service on 01245 320992.
Hope that helps.

KeymasterRe: help with Hotpoint EW85 smashed doors and Merloni compla
Sorry about the accident, but to answer in order.
1) No because the use does not involve applying an external force of any nature to the appliance however it happens. That’s a bit like telling a car manufacturer that you’re hacked off because the windscreen shattered when a stone hit it.
2) No, for some strange reason they don’t want to talk to us. 😉
However there are one or two Merloni employees that do have some influence and do read these forums (as well as other manufacturers) and they do note the points made I’m sure.
3) As a general rule that is correct. Any warranty will cover electro-mechanical failure but not cosmetic, accidental or failure through customer misue of the appliance. Some extended warranties do offer accidental cover, Curry’s one does IIRC, so if you did take their warranty it should cover it.
Hope that helps a bit.

What area are you in of Glasgow, as in postcode as that’s my patch!
Likely things given the age are bearings, but it would be noisy as well and the module due to the no spin but I’d have to get one of the lads to look at it to be sure. Cost wise, if it’s the module or another simple fault it should be worth it as it is indeed an integrated Hygena machine from MFI but it would cost £500+ to replace.
If you want any more help give me a shout.
