    Re: EMW issues

EMW have been good to me too. One time when I blew up a Bosch module by fitting the wrong lock they had another go at it for me foc.
It’s not their fault that they have to charge a decent price for what they do and that modern boards especially Merloni and Servis are such cr@p. I never buy a new board unless it’s a cheapie Beko / Matsui or such like and I’m 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain of diagnosis. Any doubt about diagnosis and it’s EMW every time. What would CDSL/ Masterpart/ Qualtex say if your new board didn’t cure the problem?

Well, rung her up today to arrange a visit Weds. and it’s apparently been behaving itself since I looked at it. Must be my magic touch again. Good thing I took my call out charge on first visit. At least I’ve got some ammo now if problem recurs.:D

in reply to: Servis M3005W filling / draining #325686

Re: Servis M3005W filling / draining

Some older Servis machines had water valve wired in series with pump so that if pump went o/c water valve would not turn on. This can create constant pump out when on rare occasions the water valve coil goes short circuit. If such has happened to cold valve but hot valve is still letting in water (or maybe vice versa) then you’d get fill + drain. (Probably.) OK it’s a long shot but worth bearing in mind. Can’t find much else to reply to today .

Trying in a new lock is the fastest way to find out. If it works, it was a faulty lock. If it don’t, it’s probable that the pcb has had it. Tell customer not to try it again before your visit in case the board hasn’t yet blown! Also I have noted that to activate the lock is very difficult without installing it screws and all.

Had one of these. Was intermittent. Replaced heater relay on main board. Probably RL1, IIRC but should be fairly obvious from following tracks/wiring. Cured.

Sounds like electronics are reacting to a low insulation fault somewhere. If W/D, most likely dryer element. If washer only could be htr or mtr. “Low” insulation can mean 40 (yes, forty!) Mohm or less. Disconnect component and re-try.

It has always seemed to me odd that anyone can trust reviews of machines that have been completed before they’ve been on the market long enough to start showing their weaknesses.
Notwithstanding that I think Beko aren’t bad in general.

    Hi Martin, thanks for reply.
I don’t know what speed it got to, seemed about 1000/1200 maybe. The 2′ 48″ I stated was from when drum began to move to when prog ended. 🙁
I’m pretty sure (it was a good holiday) I had a load in it.
Would appreciate pdf; can never have too much information.
Will PM you with my e-mail.
I think 5 would be rinses and spin as opposed to final rinse and spin ❓

If it’s one of those with a fill matrix behind l/h side panel, look there for a sticking/gunged up red? float.

    Re: bosch drum bearings

I have a vague memory of a retaining circlip holding drum shaft or bearing in on a recent Bosch. Watch out for that. Easy to miss these things and wonder why the thing won’t shift!

Shaft seal 613084 £8.03 from Bsh. Just take along one each of all the bearings you have in stock. I’m sure you’ll cover it. Might be a 6305 in there somewhere, though.

    Re: John Lewis W/M (Zanussi built) JLWM1201 P/N 914 517 044

Since fault occurs just after starting to heat it suggests that heating element or poss. thermistor/connections may be implicated. Would suggest megger heater and change if under 40Mohm. (Check it when it’s warm.) Also check thermistor & connections between it and board.

Agree with Steve. It’ll probably be another of those 680uf 10v failures. See “Simple PCB repair tips” sticky. Symptoms slightly different than usual that’s all.

Thanks Martin. There was a van round here until about 5 years ago. Then we all went internet and the van man retired. Spares were delivered once a week and the customers just had to put up with it. Mine still have to wait a bit. 😆
