    Re: Module 5520-1000 circuit

Well, it comes from a leg of the triac via a large track so I would say yes.
Got a spare one in my hand if you need it. (S/H untested but looks OK. Had it in stock for about ten years and not used it yet.)

Sounds like a good idea. Never thought of that.
Would one of those “bag clips”e-bay do the job? Perhaps with a bit of modification.

    Re: Bosch WFF2000 W/M

Unless there’s a Bosch expert around, (and it may be worth waiting a day or two) I think you’d need to remove motor and figure out which terminal went where – possibly even remove (brushes) end bracket and brush holder. I don’t think you could buy toc on it’s own, I think it comes as part of the brush ring (holder).
Go here and click on spare parts (“e-shop”) and search for relevant PDF.
    Mike.
Second thoughts: Disconnect brush terminals and test for continuity between each and at least one motor plug terminal. If you find one of them doesn’t have continuity to any motor plug terminal, then you have probably got an o/c toc.
Third thought: Did you make sure new brushes were making contact with armature?

OK well I use just one bit of wire for the job………………

If you want the part number just let me know. Sure makes it easier that bits of cable ties, old belts and packing straps etc.
Martin, that looks a bit dangerous to me. If one end of that wire slips off the screwdriver (or breaks at the loop crimp [?]) you could end up stabbing yourself with the screwdriver. I’ll stick with my cable tie and risk punching myself if my grip slips.

Don’t take pins out till you’ve laid machine back on floor.

    Re: Alias Haier

The thing is, with this cheap and nasty rubbish, you end up spending a lot of time. And time is not cheap but the punter isn’t willing to pay a fair price for your time when the appliance was so cheap in the first place.
(Notice the emphasis on time.)(And the italicisation on cheap.) I know it’s all been said before but it needs repeating from time to time.

I lay the open back down on a blanket, pull out the springs with a cble tie, push out the suspa pins, and lift the front section away. Use same cable tie to reposition springs.

    Re: Electrolux EWX14440W Cuts out

Had a Zanussi ZWF1440W doing very similar intermittent mularky.
Discovered that by shifting the loom near the module and p/sw around, it would work. Knew there must be a loose connection in there somewhere but wasn’t sure I’d be able to find it. So I found by experiment the position in which the loom worked consitently and tied it up in that position with cable ties. Charged for my work and told customer I’d look into price and availability of new loom. Well, that was last August. I never did quite find the new loom prices. Still keeping fingers crossed that repair will last till this August. 😆

You don’t have to answer, but I was interested in how much you charge your customer for the whole job? When they could have Hotpoint do it for £104.99
That one was back last October, so I wouldn’t know if you can still get one for £64.
I charged them £120 the whole job. They had bought the machine two years ago from a local guy who dabbles and couldn’t get hold of him when it went wrong. To be honest I can’t remember whether or not I told them about Hotpoint’s offer, or even if it crossed my mind. Normally, I certainly would tell them because I’m not over keen on these larger jobs. (Much prefer tootling around doing the twenty minute jobs and stacking up the £20 notes.) (I wish.)
I remember now, I had gone equipped to do it as a bearing job (£100 estimated) and finding a sealed drum had had to revise the estimate and return a couple of days later. Oh, and also it was a pub so Hotpoint would probably have said it was commercial use.
    Mike.
PS: Just checked my books and they actually paid me £140 because I swiped a call out charge off them on the initial visit. I think I gave them a good deal what with the year’s guarantee.

Lasty, I’m not absolutely certain, but I think WD71 is an older machine which is pre – smd era.

(Edit: So you can happily also ignore the reference to smds in my previous post!)

    Re: Zanussi E33 fault

That’s pretty weird. Why not lever open the pressure switch to find out?
Got E33 details here in front of me (albeit for an AEG) and besides p/sw it also mentions heater element and current leakage. I expect you’ve checked those but who knows what value is critical?
