You’d need to pay me a tenner first in case I have to listen to music for half an hour first :rolls: , not unlikely at this end of the week.
But I’m sure they’ll do the same for you if you talk nice to them. (“Please have your credit card details ready.”)

You could be right in some instances, I think, but OTOH, I don’t think washing machine manufacturers in general are much interested in protecting triacs if it means spending an extra couple of pennies.

Well there’s a longer lever in there somewhere. But physics wasn’t my strongest subject. 😆
This has set me wondering how big the centrifugal forces are compared to the gravitational one, particularly in reference to front vs. top loader.

Or “intermittent” supply to motor could be normal as it will be stopping and starting during programme.

Very wise, especially if it bears the name “Nextra” 👿

I don’t think the resistor would cause the triac to blow. Rather more likely that something (interlock, pump…) caused the triac to blow and the resistor just went along for the ride.
The RS site BTW is rather large and at the moment seems to be running very slow. If you find it difficult, “zoom out” and try a new way in. 😉

Re: What is this called please

It’s a surface mounted resistor. The 102 is its value but it’s not 102 ohms. It’s some sort of code which I can never remember so best way to find out is compare it with other smd resistors of same value elsewhere on board. (Sure to be some.)

Re: Hotpoint WD71 will not start

    ? Plastic ?
Not familiar with this model but I think you are looking at a tactile switch?
    Like one of these:
    RS
but click the link that says, “more like this” as that one might be wrong size.

So any plastic that’s getting in the way will have to be moved aside or cut through (though preferably not that, as its presumably protection against water ingress.)
Note which way round old switch is mounted and put new one same way – (legs are bent. Or, if it’s surface mounted, there will only be one way of mounting it.)
If you haven’t done electronic soldering before, search You-tube and get some tips first.

Make sure to have the data sheet drawing next to you while you’re working as you’ll need to cross your legs!

There are also wonderful things called on-line translators. You just click a button and it’s done. Of course, it’s only a rough translation and some words are obviously way out, and grammar and syntax is pretty much lost but it gives you the gist.

What does this triac do? Is it the one for the motor? If so, better check that area too.

in reply to: Atag circo element #315367

    Re: Atag circo element

There’s a 2500W 3-turn element which fits OX911M. It looks like you’d have to drill a hole or two because the bracket looks longer, but it’s only £8.99 “in stock” at Masterpart (HY14200) or £5.49 out of stock at Connect.
If it were me, I’d fit a 2Kw element with a neck and drill some holes in a safe place, possibly leaving the bracket from the old one in place to block off the original holes. Unless of course the customer’s willing to pay for the right part.
Incidentally, it’s worth a trawl through retail sites like elementman and elementreplacement which give full dimensions info for all elements.
