If you click on the link below the product for the PDF data sheet, it will show you a picture of the smd next to the TO92 version. You could just solder the appropriate legs to the legs of the old one.

Is that the three level 50209631006 ? In stock at Masterpart, £42.07
Still not cheap. I’m sure you could find something else and just adapt the terminals.

Green condenser valve coil. Measures OK with meter. Works for a few minutes then goes o/c when warm.

My gut feeling is burnt relay contact on pcb. Down in the back r/h corner. 🙁

Re: Ancient Zan FL1012 rinse fault

You could take the switch apart by levering it open with a couple of screwdrivers, being careful not to stab yourself in the process. Sometimes it’s the only way to find an internal P/sw problem as they do occasionally work Ok on a meter test but are unreliable due to burnt contacts, broken cotacts or spring stuck. It’s rare but it happens. You can re-assemble them OK – it’s nearly impossible to break them because the plastic is so tough and you can always use a bit of sealant if needed.
Only other possibility I can think of is wiring fault between timer/p.sw/valve loose connector perhaps.

Sad story. You should really have stopped when he said he’d have to wait for the wife to come back. Why is it some couples are unable to act independently?
Never mind, you’ve learned a useful lesson and reminded us all of it.

Blimey, I think I’ve sometimes done that myself while testing. Must remember to press pause button first. Thanks for the warning.

    Re: hoover oph714w

If that’s one of the modules that sits at the top on the right hand side from front you’d have very little hope of fixing it. Probably even EMW would send it back as unrepairable. Worth ringing Gias for direct price, sometimes considerably cheaper than trade wholesalers! But, as Martin says, fix the cause first.

Ah, you noticed that, too. Don’t forget they also go about 3000 rpm, albeit with a smaller diameter, and last about 15 years on average. 😆

I took some photos and I will probably share one or two of them sometime when I get my act together on how to do that. However, just right now I’m still smarting from the considerable fight I had to win on that one and I’m going to be a bit reluctant to share such hard-won secrets as I learned. Anyway, don’t want to put EMW out of business just yet, I’ll still be needing them from time to time. 😆
