I think that sentence sums it up very well; you have to keep a balance and watch you don’t go too far one way or the other.
Ken, I agree there have been plenty of changes but has it made the world any more egalitarian?
You know the old saying about only the flies changing . Still true IYAM.Another thing is, it bugs me when I go to an appliance and find the panels off already and things have been messed about with by some amateur. (I mess about with stuff I don’t fully understand, too, but I don’t then call in a professional.)

Well the internet has been around for quite some time now but Penguin’s video is the best I’ve seen yet of its genre. What happens when I look for info about how to repair something outside this trade, though? (e.g. binoculars or a camcorder or a DVD recorder – items I have looked for advice on recently). I’ll tell you. I find only snippets of information, of varying quality, and professionals mostly asking money for any slightly better info.
I don’t see so much evidence that the world is changing that fast.
If the day should dawn when Tesco start delivering free food to my door, the landlord comes round and says there’s no rent to pay from now on and the council write to tell me that all services are now free, I might consider posting in the public forums.

I must say Penguin’s video is the best I have seen of its type on U-tube.
However, like some others, I do see that as giving away a bit too much. What about including a printed sheet with drawings/diagrams with each pair of brushes sold and taking the video down?
That way, only customers who have supported the site by buying something get the info. Can always say we have taken video down to avoid liability issues.
I know it’s tedious and time consuming to draw up a sheet but once it’s done, it’s done and it helps even those who don’t have web access.

Went there today, reset OK. Set to eco wash and it sounded as if it was just pumping. Tipped it back but no water emerged. Removed left side panel and found red float stuck by thin film of dried gunge. Cleaned, replaced, started fine, left it whirring away instructing customer to keep an eye on it whilst letting it run through rest of programme.
Couple of hours later, phone rings – its flooded floor. ❓
Ring back this evening and its apparently stuck on 47 mins now, which is where it was when they switched it off.
Going back Weds afternoon. Told them not to reset it – they probably don’t know how anyway.
Any further thoughts appreciated.

Got this off the web. Hopefully it may help. You’ll need to do a bit of work to untangle it though.
pdf Invensys Temp control specs (Note temps in fahrenheit 😯 )
Ranco have always been very helpful when I have rung them but last time was ten years ago. (01752)724277. Technical support line was then 0845 130 7722.

ParticipantRe: Indesit idl40 drain pump o-ring
I have had something similar with Bosch dishwasher O ring. I suppose heating can expand them but I would have thought they would revert to correct size when cooled.

I dunno, these drivers who operate camcorders while driving 😯 .
Better watch out.
Mike.
Edit: Oh, didn’t realise that was a link to a video! Was thinking Mrs P was keeping the engine warm whilst filming Mr P doing the brush change. 😆leavemetogetonwithit

Pressure switches can get blocked in either position. If you pull off the hose and hear a click (applies to old p/sw’s only, not new analogic ones) then it was probably blocked in the full position.

OK, thanks Martin. In that case the first place I’ll look is the module! Not that I give no credence to your advice. On the contrary, I’ll be looking for that burnt relay joint 🙂 .

I could suggest something but you’d need a certain level of fitness and probably a helmet. 🙂
