If it’s got one of those hybrid timers AKO 513 295 (or something like that), then it’s the timer. http://www.emwelec.co.uk Common fault.

Ha ha. You Romanians are even more penny-pinching than us Brits 😆 . I suppose it’s a question of necessity 🙁 .
Anyway, the 33 ohm smd resistors were expensive for some reason so I ordered a normal axial one (same spec) which there is room for. And I’m going to remove a diode from an old board as the new ones looked different and were also a bit pricey as you have to buy 100.
Hopefully won’t need that config code this time round.

Re: Oh no! Another electronic nightmare. AEG La72630 EWM2000

Baron, you are brilliant! I’ll go straight ahead and order the components and leave the new module/configuration lark as a last resort. I did suspect R53 (reading open) and the others and was going to test them. Also I see the big relay with the clear plastic cover looks quite blackened which is only to be expected given age of machine. Might as well replace all relays if I’m going to remove them and make a proper job of it.
Will update when all done. Many thanks to you 😀 .

TBH, they should have used an element with a built-in toc in case there are other nutters like him about 😆 . I know they have the pressure operated micro-switch but you have to allow for mis-use!

Underneath, (ads by Google) “Ask a Appliance Repairman” (sic)….
Wouldn’t you just love to have your ad appear there!
    And then Ken’s sig,

Arsonists all over the place. 😆

Have a look at http://www.emwelec.co.uk to see if they do a recon timer.

Re: Oh no! Another electronic nightmare. AEG La72630 EWM2000

No big red label on the old one. Assume there will be one on the new.
Had already looked at TDS disc and could not figure out how to access the pdf entitled service manual and none present on Connect for this model. 😕
    Mike.
Edit: OK I got the manual anyway. Just had to use keyboard on Connect to scroll down and reveal previously invisible options. Looks like a worse nightmare than trying to repair the old one.

Re: Oh no! Another electronic nightmare. AEG La72630 EWM2000

Customer says yes without hesitation. Hmm. Not really looking forward to it. So yes please for the code, Martin.

Re: Oh no! Another electronic nightmare. AEG La72630 EWM2000

Thanks Martin; hold off for now. Can’t get hold of customer to find out what he wants to do. Rather doubt I’ll have to go that route anyway, since machine is 10/11 years old and the board retails at £116.

Re: Oh no! Another electronic nightmare. AEG La72630 EWM2000

Urgent question: If I got a new board for him, would I be able to programme it from the fascia buttons or would it only be programmable by a Lux engineer?

    Re: Espares

Here’s a bit more interesting(?) stuff regarding Esparse for your delectation.
I just had a quick google of 1100991130 (AEG EWM2000 board) this morning to check on-line retail price before quoting customer.
I was looking to beat Lux’s own £116 incl vat and delivery (retail).
Two links in english on first page:
    http://www.espares.co.uk/part/washing-machines/aeg/p/1085/143/0/0/552777/washing-machine-control-m.html
£138.99, might be extra for delivery? Although, if customer thought to look for Lux site they should subsequently get some money back on price match. Also, in the Q&A section below description :

“Q Does this module require any additional software/download(s)/programming for it to work? Or is it a straightforward replacement? Thanks.by Anonymous – 24 March 2011

Hello there, I can confirm that this control module is pre-programmed.

by Rory eSpares Staff – 30 March 2011″

The other link which I found from my Google search, which is rather a long read but not less interesting than many of the discussions some of you guys engage in with the public on this site:
    http://www.justanswer.com/uk-appliance/4z58t-hi-i-age-washingmachine-stopt-running-no-error.html
To cut a long story short: Customer buys new board as his own is burnt up. Installs board once, E90, re-installs old board, no error but no action, installs new one again, E90. Goes through long discussion with expert for £7 on justanswer.com. Long-winded model no. discussion etc. Conclusion is board needs programming and no pre-programmed board available. By this time the poor sod’s had the board in and out about 6 times and must be literally pulling his hair out.
To the expert’s credit, he stuck with it and tried to help the guy and the discussion was concluded in only two hours from start to finish.
I wonder if Esparse gave him any money back and what they did with the old board if so?
Hmm. Should I e-mail them and offer a fiver for it incl. P&P?
    Mike.

Re: Oh no! Another electronic nightmare. AEG La72630 EWM2000

Not impossible I suppose. I might ask him if he did that; he wasn’t at home when I called. There is some sign of a light coloured residue at the top of the board around the relays. Have often seen this sort of thing on perfectly functioning boards though.

Ah, but it seems that may not be the case when we are talking about your impellor, which is what I was talking about. Of course.

    Re: Possible PCB Repair?

According to data sheet (quick pdf download below picture of component) it looks like you have G5LE-1A (SPNO) which has only 4 legs. Best try G5LE-1 (SPDT) 399-8225 .

in reply to: Miele door seal #355583

    Re: Miele door seal

Seems to be a common problem with Miele these days. It’s been discussed here before. I managed to patch one torn lip up a few months back and it’s still going strong. Did it as a stopgap while I sourced a cheaper seal but they were happy to stick with it as no cheaper seal forthcoming. Superglue is remarkably effective. Really can’t remember the full detail of how I did it but I think it was a combination of glue, new piece cut from cheap surplus seal of similar curve and perhaps a bit of overlapping material. It was suggested that the problem is caused by the new wide doors allowing clothing to flop forward and catch between door and lip. Drum starts to rotate and pulls clothing away, ripping seal.
