    Re: Possible PCB Repair?

If you look carefully at the old relay and board, you’ll probably find that the, “missing leg” wasn’t actually connected to anything.

I have to say that RocketMan has kept his protrusion nice and clean but I reckon mine’s been around a bit longer.

WD12X would be getting on a bit by now, wouldn’t it? Er, about twice the normal expected lifetime?

No way. She is adamantly against such things and on top of that I advised her against it, given that the machine is used fairly lightly (2 person household).
Incidentally, the intention of my post was partly to wonder how much fault-finding had taken place on the part of the Hotpoint engineer. Motor + board + heater all faulty?

    Re: Bayonet Pump

The few pictures I found when googling that part number show a Hanning pump. That same bayonet type used to be sold as a “trade pump” to fit Hotpoint by Seme. I have one here and sure enough the impellor sticks out further.

If that’s not it, look at PMP9096 on Connections. If you want this one pm me with an offer 😆 .

Re: Hpt dw DWF 30P/7 (Bosch) pcb repair. Detail required.

Secondhand board from ebay finally arrived. But it was a bit different. I may put up some pics one day but for now I’ll just round off this story. It has a shorter user interface board laid out a bit different and the relays are 12v not 5v. Might have fitted, but I thought it might also need programming. So I gave customer a ring, explained situation and even suggested he try Hotpoints fixed-fee deal (hadn’t occurred to me till then.) He got back to me after a bit and said Hotpoint wouldn’t wear it (due non-Hotpoint staff intervention – fair enough) and the missus had decided to buy a new one online. So that’s another abandoned project but I’m not bitter 😆 . Learned heaps of things, not just about electronics but about negotiating deals for parts on ebay (got two s/h dishwasher motors on their way now) and not to start fixing boards without thoroughly examining first 😉 .

Think you have to ask people’s permission to record their calls?

I’m always late anyway. I think it’s an inherited trait so there’s nothing I can do about it 😆 . I say, “between 2&4” and arrive 4.05pm if they’re lucky. Seem to find plenty of people round here are in all the time anyway.
PS: Is this post showing 8.10am to others or is it just to me?

Next time I’m asked that I shall simply say, “No, I don’t mind dogs but health and safety requires that they are kept well away from me while I am working.” Worse are the ones who don’t even think to ask 👿 .
