Might be another low insulation resistance fault. Motor, heater.

Ken’s original post asks for a busted one. I suppose they could have a look on ebay.

Could be insulation resistance of motor or some other component slipped below the critical 40 meg.

    any suggestions??

    vtd00 dryer
Hoover tumble dyer. The ones where you would change the noisy tension pulleys …. if it didn’t involve a nightmare stripdown 👿 .

If you look closely, there are obvious differences between brushes in the surface finish and sometimes in the tag shape.
Pumps are a more complex manufacture. There you have got Askoll, Plaset, Coprecci, Hanning and a few others and it makes little difference whether it’s pattern or genuine or whose pattern part it is.

Takes about 24hrs I think. Preferably, oven door needs to be left on a table somewhere and undisturbed.

Re: Oh no! Another electronic nightmare. AEG La72630 EWM2000

    So…
This is what it looked like after I removed the relays. So Martin was right about water getting in, I think.

And this is what it looked like after I cleaned it up and soldered in the new components (used a wire-in diode and s/h 33R and 47kR because I ordered wrong ones 😳 ).

Thinking to myself, “What if it all goes pear-shaped?” I took Baron’s advice and only cleaned the big relay. The others I opened up and checked they were OK, then re-installed them.

And not forgetting to clean up the cremation site. As you can see, there had been quite a burn up there.

Then this morning I tentatively put it all back in the machine, switched on and waited for the BANG.
To my relief, it just acted as though nothing had ever been wrong. :wobble:
Customer not present, so have left instructions to monitor machine during first couple of uses but have high hopes that I won’t get a re-call. If It bounces I’ll blame Baron 😆 . How much is a pint in Romania, BTW?

I had hoped that might be enough of a clue. Let’s just say Connect’s pattern brushes are much more pricey but I’ve never had a problem with them. And the only other supplier I use with any regularity is the sponsor of the Trade Parts forum.

Thats one good thing about the old Hotpoint 9900/WM series dryers, only a second to whip the small black cap of the condensor inlet at the back to check if you had water coming out.

Yeah. But if you didn’t you had to fiddle around taking out about fourteen screws from different angles just to get at the water valve.

Good idea. I’d been thinking of mentioning the pattern brushes (Bsh + Hpt) very cheap from one particular wholesaler but some of which go, “ping”, lose their tails and go flying across the room and under some piece of furniture just as you go to install them 👿 :offtopic: .

Damp? Either motor or heater below 40meg insulation resistance.

    Re: Hotpoint WF541G went pop!

💡 Sorry to go a bit off topic but wouldn’t it be good if we had some sort of photographic library of as many boards as possible to which we could all refer for component ID’s and helping out with faults like this one.
I have no idea what your board looks like or which corner of it you’re looking at. Mind you, even if I did …
Got a feeling the pump is controlled by a triac or similar device and IIRC, they’re in the neutral side of the circuit.
