Re: Miele shock absorbers. Can they just go soft?

That’s encouraging, if it means I can get them for £15.50 a pair. Bit confused by your post Dave. That is the part number on the bag of the ones I fitted so, whether or not Maddocks list W828 under them is of no great importance – they fit! Confused more by the fact you’re paying more than I did to get them from Denmark when it looks like you’ve got a Maddocks a/c :hmm:

The time you spent hunting them down, you could have fitted in another WMA bearing + spider job 😆 .

Re: Miele shock absorbers. Can they just go soft?

Well, did it yesterday and, sure enough, the old ones were completely useless, giving hardly any resistance to movement at all. I had thought the drum a bit easy to bounce when I did the circuit board but, being used to old Hotpoints, thought it could be just normal.
Now I want to get back to a second example of this fault I did a couple of weeks back and catch it before it blows the board again.
But £40 seems a lot to pay for what looks like a pair of old Bendix legs. The new ones were 43-ML-01 europart.http://www.europart.co.uk/s.nl/it.A/id.15226/.f They are marked 120N. The originals are 115N. (Newtons, I presume.) Has anybody got a Maddox a/c and can give me a price?
I’ve a strong feeling Connect’s SUS932300 for Bendix 7128 @ £3.70 ea would be the same beast. Somebody out there has the answers.

    Re: Whirlpool AWO/D 5706 dead

See Martin114’s post here The one you’ve chosen might be just a bit big, might make it a squeeze for space. Edit: Just realised it is probably a protection device too, so it would be like fitting a higher value fuse 😯 .
I can post you a couple 1st class Monday am if you email me your address.

in reply to: Interchangeability of Merloni dw motors. Or not? #354637

Re: Interchangeability of Merloni dw motors. Or not?

After a long drawn out cack-up by the courier company, the motor finally arrived the other day and I went to fit it last evening.
First thing I noticed was the difference in capacitor size, 5uf vs 4uf. Next, having got FDW60 motor off machine, my suspicions were confirmed that the laminations were shorter on the Indesit. The labels read thus: FDW60 – 75W 0.75A Indesit 120W 0.48A.
Still, I thought, it’s worth a go. Got chamber off and noted length of thread on shaft shorter on Indesit. Did not give up until it became evident that Indesit shaft was thicker and would not take the FDW60 impellor 👿 .
I have instructed my solicitor to persue a claim for lost earnings against loopey 😀 .
Meanwhile, having got motor off, I was able to see the abraded live wire which had been hidden above it and which was probably the main cause of the tripping fault. Motor has stabilised out to around 1.8 megs so once I have obtained the new drain hose required I will return and refit the old motor.

Re: Miele shock absorbers. Can they just go soft?

New ones on their way. Will do job Friday and update when done. Perhaps the heavy drum of Miele is what does it? Or perhaps it’s just because the machines last so long, whereas on cheaper machines these things don’t get a chance to wear out. Part no. used by some online sellers is 43ML01 which sounds to me like a Maddocks?/ Europart? number. So they may be available a lot cheaper to us somewhere.

Not familiar with your model but I do know that Hoover selector switches are dead cheap, fail for fun and cause weird faults.

Re: Whirlpool AWM5125/? worth doing bearings?

Hi John, Thanks for the info. Original seal seems to be 35x65x9 according to Connect. I’ve ordered a 35x65x10 which is nearest I could find for much less money and probably just as good.
If you think of anything which is likely to trip me up first time I do this one, please let me know as I really need to do it in one hit.
