Well that’s how the more modern Lux ones signal a fault code although I don’t remember whether that = 52 or 25. But E52 is a common fault code whilst I’ve never heard of anyone seeing a E25.
If you’ve got an account with Connect you will normally find all the manuals and diagnostic details on their “mediator.” If not, pm me your email address and I’ll see if I can send them to you.

Thankyou madfisher, that is very helpful. I’ll see which one I can get cheaper 😀 . One is £40 the other £52 at Indesit but I don’t suppose that will necessarily be reflected at the wholesalers.

If it is E52 it’s a common enough problem and can be a right b”*!:;r to diagnose accurately.
The following thread may help to give some pointers – or it could just complicate it for you. Probably best just to read the posts from repman and captaincaveman1 within it.

I’ve seen loads of machines in the past with glass scratched as though the customer regularly loaded it with nails – they probably did. Never saw a glass break due to that though. Maybe the quality of glass has deteriorated very slightly from what it was in the past due to recycling and recycling and recycling and … whoops record got stuck. It is well known that you can only recycle stuff so many times before the impurities start to have an effect. Could be that the modern stuff is beginning to be just that little bit more brittle.
I’m sure the manufacturers will be taking this scare story very seriously (cue Philip Glass music) behind closed doors* (whilst denying any possibility of a problem publicly) and will be making sure that any neccessary adjustments to quality control are put in place.
I suspect this could also be true of the aluminium used for spiders but they probably won’t be too bothered about that.

Went to have a look this morning. No pick up brush / band, as Tim said.
Couldn’t figure how it can sense humidity and didn’t want to get in too deep as had to rush home to sign for a parcel. Heater was coming on for a short time on “sensor” position then going off. This was the normal working behaviour I would have expected so I suggested he do a couple more trials and I would return if necessary. I think it might turn out to be an intermittent stat or ntc.

Sounds like another one of those.
See Dave electrofix’s posts in simple pcb repairs sticky.

I had a customer once call me out to look at what was then a nearly new Zanussi. She is a farmer’s wife and not the sort of person to make up stories. She said there had been smoke billowing from the machine. I looked it all over and tested everything and found absolutely zilch. Told her to try it again with appropriate caution and to let me know if there was any recurrence. That was around ten years ago. Been there a few times since to do various repairs on it but there’s never been any recurrence of the smoke. Mind you, in this case there was no distortion of soap box. But I think in these circumstances you just have to either take it back to workshop for a soak test or let the customer carry on with it (with advice to monitor closely and making sure that good protection is incorporated in circuit) until it either does something wrong again or absolves itself from responsibility by continued good behaviour!
Also, I’m thinking boiling water from a kettle would distort dispenser drawer but I don’t know why they would invent the smoke 😕 .

Thanks for replies. I don’t know much details but cust thinks he might be responsible as he was poking vacuum cleaner narrow hose down filter aperture below door and thinks he might have damaged, “a small round silver thing” which he can see down in there.
Or that could be a red herring.
Then again I don’t think they put fish in these things. But he could be a fisherman and left it in a pocket.
Anyway, at least I’m better informed now.

Stupid survey. They ask you if you think the idea of a “competent person” training course / certificate is a good idea but don’t provide any information about it. So how can you answer?
I’ve filled it in in my usual cynical vein. Good thing it’s anonymous 😀 .

Martin, sometimes you don’t take enough time to read posts properly before jumping in. I never said I would use s/h parts for this job. It would never make sense to use s/h dampers unless you had taken them from a machine yourself which you knew to be little-used or nearly new. I only happened on the Ebay ones whilst searching for new ones on there and mentioned it in passing. They’re mostly looking for prices above what we can buy them new anyway!
OTOH, I would certainly have preferred to use Merloni new parts at a quarter of the price when the machine has already done 8 years on similar spec. parts. Customer is going to pay me about £90 for two legs and they could have had as good for about £25.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFX2467GB/06 shock absorbers.
Have just rung customer back and explained situation and she wants to go with having the genuine Bosch ones :rolls: preferring to pay double and talking about “penny-wise, pound foolish.” Customer’s always right of course so I didn’t argue.
Sometimes I wonder why I bother trying to save people money though. In future I’ll spend more time psychoanalysing the customer and save myself the bother of trying to fix machines at a realistic price when that’s not what they want.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFX2467GB/06 shock absorbers.
Thanks Steve, I thought there would be someone who had already been there so I’m glad to get your reply.
I presume your friend would have used the original square type dampers rather than the newer round ones as usually supplied now.
Customer has left msg on answerphone this am asking for a “quote” for job. Has Matt Allright been on the telly again spreading the truth about me?
Looked on ebay as that’s often where I get parts these days and was surprised to find that dozens of trade sellers are trying to flog second hand HPT suspas, some even describing them as, “seller refurbished”. “We have a workshop full of trained engineers fitting these to actual machines to test them fully… etc. ” :rotfl:
Maybe that’s how some employers are keeping their engineers busy during the recession?

Very common sense approach.
I cut my finger pretty badly when gardening last weekend. Popped in to see GP on Monday to see if he thought it worth a stitch or two. He said it was better to leave it open as if he put in a stitch I’d have to take a course of antibiotics in case the stitch introduced infection. :rolls:
I get loads of free plasters from a charity where I do a bit of volunteering because they have to replace them every six months even though they’re perfectly OK and the first aid kits almost never get used but we have to drag them around everywhere we go.
