If it does come to that, and they’re not too happy, and it’s under two years old, and they bought it from a big retailer, give them a written quote for repair and get them to contact the retailer. See this recent thread.

Think fan element is cheap enough for these. I’d try that first before imagining all sorts of complicated faults . Check fan speed too. If it seems a bit slow, pull cooker out and lubricate fan bearings.

Take a dozen steak knives with you and insert them so as to hold the clips depressed at least half way round the drum. You can then quite easily lever it apart, allowing the knives to fall out as you do so. Zanussi tub screws will fit if you need any extra support when putting it back together. No need for a new seal, just bolster the old one up with silicone.

Does it turn a load of washing at normal tumble speed? If so, I would think the armature is fine. Only thing I’ve had anything like Phidom describes, and not unusual, is motor attempting to turn a load of washing but unable to find the torque, so it judders then stops until the next attempt. That was usually the armature on Hotpoint 95’s and Hoover Logics but could sometimes be the module and occasionally the timer contacts. My guess is you’ve bought yourself a scrapper 🙁 .

Surely it would. Loss of pressure.

Talking off the top of my head and having never seen such a problem, I’d be surprised if a rotor could be pinned down to such a specific resistance under anything less than laboratory conditions. If brushes are long and commutator clean, I’d be inclined to think that was a red herring.
(Hmm. Is that measured through the brushes or direct across opposite segments? Might be significant if the latter.)

Parts reasonably priced on Connect. Could be worth getting both hinges, two springs and a cable if it saves you (+customer) a second trip.

Maybe it’s a gasket that fits at the inlet to top spray arm at back of cavity? If it came out, you’d get a loss of spray pressure.

Actually, it looks like it uses a hybrid timer (?). Ako 513316?
Look at http://www.emwelec.co.uk and see common faults with that timer.

The big rectangular one? I think it’ll be interference suppressor.
