Re: Hotpoint wd64 dryer toc keeps blowin

I had a long look at the wiring diagram. If both orange wires to the cycling stat are routed via the motor bracket and tightly bound together, I wonder if it would be possible that the two were shorting together and thus bypassing the cycling stat. Or in fact one orange wire with any of the other four going to the dryer timer neutral.
More likely (?) : I can’t see any earthing connection to the dryer 😕
Could it be a current is bypassing the cycling stat by shorting to a non-earthed metal part?

Think this may have something to do with heater element. Not encountered it myself but read about it on here many times. Try a search e.g. Bosch + mins.

Re: Miele D/W G1530SC – noisey drying fan

Had this problem. Think the fan is in the door, if its a modern one. There’s a drain tube going down from its compartment and it gets blocked -> water in fan -> noise. The one I did was easy to get at, don’t remember having any trouble. Just needed a clean and lube and it was as right as rain.

Ah, didn’t notice it’s half inch. That’s saved me a tenner.

Re: Hoover “about 3 y o” machine dead following po

Don’t fancy it. Especially not in this weather. Money’s not so important to me that I want to spend half an hour poring (or even pouring) over some inscrutable square plate of chips looking for a burn mark. Especially hate ribbon cables whose sockets break if you try to pull them out.
I’ll give her your phone number, shall I? 😆
What I wanted to know was if anyone had experience of similar occurences on Hoover. I’ve seen lightning etc mentioned in relation to Lux.

I can remember at least one slimline model that had a 1.5uf. Think those motors were smaller – same diameter but shorter body. Also, it is possible that if there is a label on the motor it will state the capactor value. Can’t recall seeing a label on a Bosch dw mtr (though not done many) but might be printed on the alu somewhere.

I got one today, too. Get one every month. It must cost 30p or so in postage alone, more if it’s two brochures. (100g – 250g 2nd class = 81p).
I have never, ever, bought anything because I saw it in a catalogue. Ah, hang on a bit, well maybe when I was 12 . If they must print this junk, why not just include it with an order?

That’s wise but would be difficult for me because I like to lay the machine on its front, disconnect the pegs and springs, and then lift the cabinet away.

043889 comes up on Connect as “obsolete capaciter (sic) interference”
If it’s the interference filter you need and not the motor uF, any old thing will do, such as a Merloni or Beko one. You can hold it in place with cable ties etc.

    Re: Hotpoint WF440

Doing bearings on a WT m/c yesterday, I noted how diabolically difficult it was to pull out the motor plug. That was an induction motor but I think the brush ones are quite tight too. Seems like it would be easy to cause a disconnection in one of the insulation displacement connections within the plug in wrenching it out.
