The ball is normal…thats there to supposedly stop things from inside your pockets and odd socks etc from getting through into ur pump… by what u are saying im pretty certain but not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} u have something still inside the pump area that is stopping the impeller from getting the water out in time for it to spin… its also possible the impeller is broken… u need to take off the pump and check it if there is nothing to physically see from looking inside there once u remove the filter.

Ive had that 2 or 3 times in as many months… get me out.. diagnose the fault..give em a price.. only to be met by “well i have no money now but can u come back in 3 days time when i get paid”…. this is VERY cheeky, luckily they were very close jobs.

Yeah this is what i personally think it happening… i briefly looked into the new one ( into the outlets that feed the top and lower arms ) on the element housing and did notice some raised parts on the diverter plate ) after stripping down the old emelemt from its housing and extracting the diverter plate i noticed them raised parts had been rubbed down from revolving over time… so i come to the assumption this is the case…
Thing is i think its rather ridiculous that this should be the case on such a expesive part… and due to the noise it makes whilst diverterting im just hoping it doesnt ruin the nylon gearbox within it before it manages to rub off these raised parts.
Customer has been made fully aware of what ive just mentiod and ive also shown her the old diverter and explained exactly whats going on.
She was quite happy to let me install her machine back into her kitchen and tells me she will give it six weeks… if it hasnt cured by then she will ring me… she also gave me a extra fiver so i think shes happy enough.
Ive been onto connect who say they will gladly change it for me if it does persist but i shall have to foot the p+p for it.. which under the circumstances i aint happy with although its not their fault either..so the extra fiver tip will do to foot the cost of the p + p if this turns out to be the case .

Let me ask a question that hasnt been asked yet… before this 5 second spin only… have the clother been coming out quite wet lately before this fault your describing?.. i.e… not as dry as they used to be?

Depends how much it would cost to replace… a lot of times these can be fixed at quite a cheap cost.
I would get some help to remove it from its cavity and get it down the repair centre.

Had this same fault on a whirpool once… turned out a bad connection on one of the plugs direct to the main board… dont ask me which one as i took them all off one by one and closed the contacts up… told customer to ring as soon as it happens again … 3 month ago. 😉

    Re: Hotpoint FEW12 questions.

the new element comes with a seal… u cannot take a seal off a element like this as its fitted whilst in the “build process”… dont go ramming a screwdriver in to prise out the old element u could damage the housing … no the thermistor doesnt need any sealant adding it will seal itself .
as for the big spring band/clamp.. its just a case of patience , no tools used ( or atleast ive never used a tool to fit one ) just gotta be real good with ur hands. 😉

Re: Domestic Appliance Horror Stories ?

Ya know its funny.. this has only happened ONCE that i have first handedly ( is that spelt correct? ) heard about lol..
I was called out to a hotpoint one day ( and i arrived the same day and within the hour ) poor old gent was beside himself… he had a hotpoint 3 years old.. thought he was doing the correct thing going directly to hotpoint…waited nearly 3 weeks for hes visit.. first wash after the engineer left..he rang me… when i got there it turned out that the brushes had been replaced and he was now just over 100 quid out of pocket… turned out also the engineer fitted the parts.. lid back on and thank u sir its all done… only it wasnt.. he forgot to release one of the brushes ( cant believe he hadnt given it a spin after the replacements were in situ )

This job cost me £30 as i felt so sorry for the guy i wavered my fee. 😕

And u could probably scrub a few of them scenarios… just noticed its a oven also and giving u the fault on that side too.
Best thing for your own safety is to take it to a local repair centre.
    were r u based?
