Unless you have done the basic checks such as block pump, brushes and heater you need to see the error codes on the front panel.

    More info needed.

Check the board heat sink for signs of damage. Small marks on the fins will indicate contact from the motor. Normally caused board to blow when the motor hits it. This is normally caused by worn dampers or overloading.

I think that’s a 3 phase motor but of it has brushes have you checked them ? When you say you bypassed it what did you do ?

    Re: Hotpoint WDD960 drying temperature

A few questions you state you are using synthetics drying, are you using the high or low heat option as its sounds as if your over drying ?

You say you are using timed dry for 40 minutes, its possible that that it still to long. When using the timed dry option rather than the automatic dry options the drier will dry for the full duration even if the load was dry half way through. Then as everything is dry there is nothing to absorb the heat and the drier will get hotter and hotter, this results in it being to hot for the cool down part to really make an impact and bring the door glass down to safe temperature to touch,if the machine has been running with a dry load that heat builds up, its not dangerous in the sense of fire but you can often find the door and front panels get very hot, as has been said its got a stat at 105 but glass that’s been heated to 80 degrees will take an hour or so to cool not the 10 minutes on the end of the cycle

Have you tried it on the automatic settings as this will sense the dryness of the load and stop when they are dry ?

It’s the boards trust me, rear you will see a sign of damage in the 3 phase ones.

    Rite. To start again.

Which pump did you change wash circulation or drain pump ?

Next when it fills it should static fill(just water no pumps running) for 3 litres of water then when it reaches that level it should activate the wash pump and continue to fill for another litre or so until final level is reached.

When you say it’s filling does the wash pump activate at all after a minute or so ?

The blocked filter error is caused by a lack of pressure coming out of the wash pump not activation the HP switch BUT the main pressure switch is also taken into account under some circumstances.

As an important note if you changed the wash pump have you connected the the plugs the correct order, the HP switch and motor use an identical plug on some models and one SHOULD be red to signify its for the HP switch but I have seen them white like the motor one as well. If you have got this wrong you would have blown board resulting in this very problem.

I sorry but you could not be further from the truth, yes machines are built at a price point but They do put massive effort into Q&R, Iv seen the amount of parts that are inspected and returned to Italy or the OE manufacture for further inspection.

I’d agree you see silly faults and the electronic can be an issue BUT on the whole it’s never as bad as it seems as we only see the broken ones.

They do implement changes to improve reliability but this takes time.

In general they are no different to most brands that have been forced to reduce prices to compete, the trade has issues due to there policy on spares and forcing to use laptop/smart card to program, however this is no different to most industry’s these days, cars were really bad for this until the EU stepped in.

I’m not saying there grate but there not the Devil as some would have you believe.

Is the knob clicking like it should when changing program? . Seen quite a few knobs brake so when you turn it it does not change the program.

Some can be repaired with glue/cable tie and some have to be replaced.

    Re: Hotpoint FDW80 Control Module

Not being specific its impossible to answer.

    But

You can/should have 1 large plug with at least 6 wires in, then a very small plug with 2 thin white wires, on one side you will have a smaller plug that can have between 1 and 6 wires coming from it then finally there will be 2 spade connects that wires do to.

The module you have fitted was it a new replacement or used ? These have to be programmed to the machine
