With that luck with canines i think you should stick to repairing washers 🙂Madmac
ParticipantRe: dogs
The very same thing happened to me several years ago, now i never put my digits too far into an absent lady’s box 😉
Not too sure what the legal angle is on this sort of thing though, not very responsible of the owner leaving such a beast on the loose 😯Madmac
ParticipantRe: Repair quote of the month.
Got to claw back the free phone call somehow i guess :rolls:

ParticipantRe: Too Hasty
Exactly Mike, some people are sooo impatient one feels like throttling them 👿 but thats illegal apparently 🙁
This impatience is explained by 2 simple facts..1.A washer used to cost a months wages.
2.A washer now costs a weeks wages (maybe much less)All too often the average punter thinks they’re probably better off giving their hard earned to Currys/Comet rather than lining our pockets :rolls: roll on the VAT increase.. might make them 2.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more likely to get that repair done..every little ‘elps 😯

Phidom wrote:Just had a call about an LG washing machine showing an OE error. I said I would look up the error code online before I came to the job. Customer asked if it was likely to need any parts ordered. I said I can’t tell at this stage but admitted I don’t keep many LG parts in stock. She then said she would not bother with the repair but would get a new machine as she realised parts orders would take longer this time of year. I just looked up the error code and it just means pump blockage / failure. The pump is probably one of the few bits I have got but I can’t ring her back as she withheld her number. :bang:
Get this sort of thing all the time, the good old internet has made it too easy to just order up a new one, who cares about the sheer waste,eh :rolls:
Not that going into an actual shed will make any difference.. was fixing an old dears fan oven a while back, 60cm Hotpoint with ceramic top, she’d paid £600 for it 4 & a bit years previously. When confronted with a cold oven she wandered into Comet in Inverness where she had bought the thing from for “advice” :rolls:
“Not worth fixing these things nowadays madam, come & see our new range” was their response apparently..i have no doubt she was telling the truth too.
She was actually hopping mad when i fixed it in 20mins at a modest cost ( mad at Comet that is) & said she intended to “get ahold” of the salesman she spoke to & show him my bill 😯
I hope she bloody did too 👿Madmac
ParticipantRe: Updated labour charges from the Indesit Company.
Was really thinkin about the chances of your average current 200 quid Indesit being saved at 8 yrs, but if you throw enough parts at it i guess anything’s possible 😯

ParticipantRe: AEG Oven intermittent fault.
Didnt notice one Alan, but i wasnt looking mind you. Shes since phoned to say its been working fine since i ‘did my magic’ (didnt do nuffin!) & she wants to see how it goes before i order anything :rolls:
Hope my bill for the callout does’nt ruin her Christmas when it lands on her mat :rolls:Madmac

ParticipantRe: Creda TCR2
Quite often the timer gives this fault Phidom, had it a couple of times with Indesit group stuff.Had a Hotpoint a few weeks ago with no drum movement, after checking cap, motor & wiring was running out of ideas, tapped timer with screwdriver handle & off she went 😯

ParticipantRe: How to seperate sealed Drum
Well,well.. guess what i had the lid off today.. a brand new Zanussi jet system ZWF 1479W 8kg machine WITH….wait for it………A SPLIT DRUM!!
Yup, no plastic welding, just the good old fashioned big screws with the 8mm heads we know & love 😯Looks like a newly developed tub, the join is 1/3 back from the front of the drum, & the front of the cabinet comes off, so looks like it would be similar to working on an old Hotpoint when it comes to bearing change 😯
Of course the induction motor might not generate much work for us poor souls but we cant have everything i guess 😥
Well, i hope ‘lux group fit this drum & cabinet across the range, its a welcome sight i must say. :tup:Madmac

He sounds like a total rip off merchant whoever he is.. over a hundred for a brush change & calling it a reconditioned motor :rolls:
These are the kind of twats who ruin our industry 🙁Madmac
ParticipantRe: Flooded
Had been pretty wet round these parts Phidom, Moray had it worse as is often the case, not a nice thing to come back to but i guess the main thing is your house is dry, best of luck with the clean up.
