    Re: Hotpoint WF561P reluctant start

Do you mean the board isnt mounted properly helo? TBH the buttons felt ok to the touch, but i’ll certainly pay some attention to that if she insists on dragging me back.
God i’m getting SOO sick of trying to make a silk purse out o a pigs ear with Indesit products, you simply cant use the buggers 3 times a day as this customer does, can you :rolls:

    Re: bearing tool

I just use a little blowlamp spanner, find it particularly useful on WMA bearing carriers as i find the front bearing a real swine to get in. a squirt of freezing spray on the bearing outer shell just before fitting could be another alternative 😉

Re: dyson washing machine (5ys +old)

Only ever changed pumps on Dysons & that was an hours worth of cursing & struggling with recessed torx fittings (Dyson speciality :rolls: ) to get the front off.. that made me so late for my next call i did’nt test machine & was rewarded by a call that evening advising me the bloody thing flooded the kitchen!! The pressure sw pipe passes through the front panel & into an integrated press sw.. easy to forget to put back on! 😳

Anyway, this isnt helping you is it.. seriously though, i would leave well alone 😯

    Re: bearing tool

I have always just used a carefully aimed drift to fit bearings, i know some engineers are a bit sniffy about this but i’ve had very few problems with bearing life quite honestly.
What i do find helps though, is heating the alloy sleeve ( go easy though ) which of course expands slightly letting the bearing pop in.
Similarly, a stuck outer bearing shell will usually give in with a dousing in WD40 followed by heating the sleeve. Worx 4 me 😉

    Re: hotpoint dryer capacitors

Cheers H75, both were CDT so i think its the crappy plastic top caps, had a couple of these Qualtex bagged 12uf fellows fail on an old Zanussi washer last year when i come to think about it :rolls:
Oh well, i’ll try another on it, must try to get a better quality though, could really do without the hassle. 🙁

Long may it continue indeed! About bloody time, i might just manage a decent holiday next year if it continues 😯

Well, i know recessions aint most peoples idea of fun, but if it makes the public think a little harder about the choices they make when their white goods fail, then thats good for the likes of us.

The fly in the ointment might be some seriously aggressive discounting from the sheds in the coming months.. oh well, bring it on 👿

Thats a hellish chain of events Squadman, hope you nail the lying scumbag. I think you may have been legally ok to simply keep her machine if no payment was given on delivery, just as a garage can keep your car, but i could be wrong. Its a moot point now of course, & god knows what she would made up had you did that.. people indeed 🙁

    Re: Hotpoint F08 fault

well, i attended this today & found what i thought i might.. heater peppered with coin dings & seriously down to earth. No call back as yet so fingers x. So i guess F08 can be more than the panel relay not switching, which answers my own question 😉

    Re: Advice to hotpoint customers

I really dont like the thought of swelling Merlonis coffers with any more cash, simply because i hate their products with a passion. I hate to see any machine being scrapped when the paint is barely dry but giving the bandits another £100 to replace a 3 year old sealed drum with failed bearings say, is just rewarding them twice for spewing out badly made landfill fodder IMO.

    Re: Hotpoint F08 fault

Cheers chaps, hav’nt been to inspect machine yet as its in beyond the back of beyond :rolls: Emw would be the route i would take if they wanna pony up £100 😯 Or should i be steering ’em towards Hotpoints kind £99 deal.. Hmm.. decisions..

Phidom, is the heater relay easily spotted cos i do have a couple of Merloni boards. ❓
