This scenario is a particular problem at this time of year I find, and Mrs Madmac wonders why I leave the house in a T shirt when its 2 degrees c. :rolls:

Jammed in a tiny utility room losing a liter of sweat a minute really isnt my idea of fun.
I just crank the rad down to zero and try to remember to restore it before I leave…not always successfully :innocent:

The fully charged night storage heater is an enemy thats not quite so easy to deal with unfortunately 🙁

The EU legislation means that they have to dim when a turn indicator is activated and, IIRC, dipped is switched on if they are a part of the headlamp unit.

Yep, I know, and that’s part of the reason a lot of drivers leave their main lights off well after dusk I think, fearing no one will notice them when their pretty diodes fade into the background :rolls:
It’s a novelty at the moment of course, and many people do disable them once the novelty wears off I’ve noticed looking at late plate cars.

I think the safety argument is flawed, many countries worldwide have had compulsory DRL’s for many years and the evidence often showed that while the accident rate improved in the first year it steadily returned to ‘normal’ because people simply got used to every car having lights and started making the same mistakes.

I’ts here to stay no doubt so there’s no point getting annoyed I guess, I just wish the law prevented manufacturers using these DRL’s as an aggresive fashion statement on their models.
And it aint just the usual ‘aspirational’ brands that are at it, Citroen do particularly bright and annoying ones too… and they’re sh*t 😆

Yep, and pre the LED era they were pretty easy on the eyes, I think its the sheer brightness and whiteness of the LED ones that bothers my eyes.
I dunno, I think its the thought that in years to come every car on the road will be lit up like a christmas tree summer and winter,it just smacks of more euro meddling in our lives which grinds my gears…but I am more easily annoyed the older I get 🙂

    Ah yes Martin,Jag XF’s, they’ve got really f*cking annoying DRL’s too 😆

Boo indeed, I like heater swaps, much easier than bearings as one slips steadily through middle age. Although the 2 year old Hvr I changed the element on last week had coin damage to be honest, pretty soft water around these parts.

Well maybe it’s EMW’s loss, ended up setting aside some time to have a fiddle with this panel and managed to get it working again for £3.
The relay that sits alone is the one that had pitted/burned contacts on my customers board (RT314024 confirmed when I opened it)

So it would appear if the dryer is still functioning apart from the dodgy relay this board will worth trying to repair for the sake some pocket change 🙂

If you can get to the solenoid on the valve and give it a few firm taps with a screwdriver handle or whatever it sometimes starts to flow properly.
Wont cure it of course but it proves if the piston is sticking inside or not, fairly common issue on these valves I’ve found.

Have the same prob with a Beko CDA563FS, running continuously & freezing the fridge contents.

Full electronic control on it, anyone know of a common failing on these causing this fault? It’s only around 3 yrs old.

    Thanks.

It seems easy to resolve to me.

Stop offering the discount and then there is no confusion!

    Jackal

Well yeah, that would certainly solve the confusion Jackal, thanks for your help :rolls:

    Ken-
Look, I know there’s no deliberate slight of hand at work but I’ve always appreciated the discount and in turn I’ve tried to support the site and probably ordered parts in the thousands in value since I joined six years ago.

I thought maybe It would be a relatively simple fix but I dont know much about website maintenance I’ll admit.

I did PM DC about it 😉

Anyway, sorry, didn’t mean to come across as a spoiled brat, probably had a few too many cold ones last night when I posted.

Thanks for the prompt response Jim 😉 The relays do seem to be easily available so definitely worth a punt methinks.

Would be good for the repair industry if the supermarkets do lose interest in white goods. The pile of £169 Bekos at the end of the aisle just re-enforced the public’s perception of the era of the throw-away major appliance.

Maybe we’re pulling back from the edge of the precipice 😯 😯

Yes, exactly. So a working knowledge of the many and varied control panels we’re faced with these days is kinda essential, even if not easy to keep up with sometimes.

So why when you’ve had a machine in bits and then go to complete the job by running it through a prog, do you have the owner peering over your shoulder telling you which buttons to press?

Probably just used to hubby claiming ignorance of all things appliance shaped 😕

Amazing how many women express genuine surprise when you breeze into their house and can instantly select a prog on their machine….. being a mere man and all 😯 😯
