OK here is one of my etchings then :-

    Dear Sir or Madwoman,

It has come to my attention that the work we carried out to your washing machine on the (dd/mm/yy) has remained unpaid. I would like to take this opportunity to point out to you the importance of your prompt payment in order to offset the sacrifices that where made by us in order to ensure your machine was reinstated back into full working order .

The engineer that carried out this work for you is our most experienced, trustworthy and conscientious employee. However he has taken non payment of your account to a very personal level by submitting all the money owed to us by you out of his own pocket! On his insistence, we have reluctantly accepted the status quo to appease his troubled mind. For he has a wife and 4 young children (6, 5, 3 and 18 months). They have a large mortgage and a battered old Ford Mondeo that has just failed its MOT and can ill afford food for their children let alone the expense of trying to get the car back on the road. He had to cancel his family holiday to Butlins recently through not being able to finance the final payment they demanded.

He is also under the misapprehension that his job is now under threat because of all this, in spite of my personal assurance to the contrary. Also another member of staff has informed me he is taking what are believe to be anti-depressants, which is most out of character for a man that has a well known aversion to medication of any kind?

Before matters get any worse could I please appeal to you to settle your account with immediate effect in order he may at least get some much needed sleep at night. It would also be a very generous gesture on your behalf to add a little β€˜tip’ that we can pass on to him for his own personal gratification (could I suggest 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}? – thank you!)

    Yours most faithfully

Ahhh! You must have missed out on all those “Drum removal slide plates” that we Hotpoint blokes at the Reading Depot knicked from the English Electric Factory in Huyton (Liverpool) when we all went up on a “training fest”……… They demonstrated the art of easy ‘Liberator Drum Removal’ using these ‘slides’ and said that “…they were as rare as hens teeth actually………….!!”
So we put all they had into our Transit Van and headed south!!!!!! :rotl:

Brilliant piece of driving Mark by the way. Don, you should see the way Mark drove out of the car park at Sibson at the end of the meeting, then you will realise it’s the same guy driving the General Lee :rotl:

    Andy,

Not in the least easy to access. I would recommend you contact a local independant engineer to take a look (unless of course it is still under warranty – in which case call Hotpoint out!)

We may have an independant in your area, try this link to see:Repairs@

OK, hand’s up, it wasn’t Lynford but a Badger that made the hole (seriously!) This sodding badger ran riot one night around my back garden and could’nt figure out how to escape, he got up on the flowerbox and clawed a hole through the fence to escape. 😯

Thanks Jason, much appreciated anyway

All the while I was just hoping I could ‘trip up’ Which? over this issue, but I guess not. No problem, and as Ken says Chris H buried a lot of info when he went anyhow…. πŸ™

…and Alex…Inertia?….I had to figure that one out, then the penny dropped :rotfl:

Most likely the pump needs replacing but I would recommend getting an expert to take a look, shouldn’t be too costly if you choose to call in a local independant engineer, try this link to see if we have one in your area:Repairs@

Now you’re talking back to the days when washing machines where built of solid stuff. When those of us that had the skill set to repair them where men and not todays whingers.

Alex, Oldtog and I broke our teeth on the likes and if you didn’t get a hernia from lifting one of these beasts, you were lucky. Oldtog has the service manual for an LT if you need a copy Goatboy, whereas I have ‘the knowledge’ confined to everlasting memory :rotfl:

Thank you for that submission, but in order to reinforce your claim, and whilst I acknowledge ones need for anonimity, perhaps if you could at least “edit” your submission with your name or ‘initial’ to add a certain credence to the posting?
