ParticipantRe: Van servicing during warrenty.
Chris,
No problem getting your van serviced from an independant provided…….That they ONLY FIT GENUINE MANUFACTURERS REPLACEMENT PARTS IN SO DOING (i.e Peugeot Brake Linings/Oil/Air Pollen Filters and the recommended brand of oil used with the sticker to show on the bulkhead the current mileage)
Go for it…save a few quid

ParticipantRe: Washing machine, Not letting conditioner drain….
An unusual Trade question?
However, a good clean out inside the dispenser cavity including all the holes cleared of limescale and bateria build-up will suffice to cure π

ParticipantRe: candy alise 105 changing bearings
Evren,
Your curiousity I can reward by explaining that the reason Candy put a ‘Y’ connection in line with the water inlet to the condenser is NOT for cooling the dispenser during drying but rather ‘sealing it off’ from the drying cycle. The ‘U’ shaped dispenser to tub hose is filled with the small trickle of water effectively sealing the warm wet moist air from entering the dispenser cavity.
Martin
P.S Similar reason on Hotpoint machines too having a U shaped dispenser hose π

Whenever you select a programme on this machine, the first thing it does is PUMP.
Now to confirm the pump is working after you have removed the pump cover and the impellor turns quite freely by hand. Is simply shut the door, start the machine and open the door quickly the moment it starts up. You should not only hear the pump as you do so, but actually see the impellor spinning for a split second, thus confirming the pump is OK
I have attended repairs to over 40 of this very model and have never ever needed to replace the pump on one (yet π )

Steady on Pat, no big deal there really, most of us have multi accounts anyway rather than putting all our eggs in one basket so to speak. Besides it keeps them (wholesalers I mean) on their toes by them constantly having to monitor what the opposition is up to stay up front π π π
Here’s a little news breakthrough for your eyes only OK?…….Wash Vac (a.k.a. Parts Center) are scrapping “Stocklink” later this summer for a more up-to-date ‘web-based system’ for all its customers. Those using the current Stocklink on their laptops in a customers home, will need a dial-up modem and access to their phone line or use a cell-phone to log on to the Internet for all the latest info on prices, diagrams, parts listing etc etc.
Also they (the Wolseley Group) are combining all their divisions into one single centralised accounting system, to enable account holders the same discounts and 28 day credit from other branches of Plumb Center, Build Center etc. etc. using their new account number ID.
Keep it under your hat though OK, nobody else knows 8)

Goatboy wrote:This is a very peril riddled procedure.
You need to take the pump cover off (size T20 Torx headed single screw fix) to inspect the impellor as usually it can get blocked with bits of bone, crockery or broken glass.
Details are included in your user manual on this procedure anyway. If you’re stuck, use the link Goatboy suggests π

It should have about 2 cms play π

The Candy Alise 105 was not sold in the UK (therefore no direct equivalent to compare) but those Alise models that were produced for the UK market did have a ‘vent pipe’ connected between the condenser unit and the water inlet valve. The vent goes to the dispenser but the water should not flow in that direction as it acts only as an air break.

It’s working good for me too, not quite in r600a’s league for call rate as such but not to be sniffed either. Chalked up over Β£500 profit so far through this system, so I am well happy…… π

Indeed so Andy, but rather I was addressing my comment not to you as such, but more to our ‘enthusiastic antipodean’ colleague, who’s input I wouldn’t wish to discourage in any way except perhaps to advise him against giving medical advice unwisely :rotfl:

Well I was kind of hoping Jason would check this one out for me before my “Free 30day Trial” with Which online expires π
(I tried emailing DASA to no effect…no surprises there though) but it did seem a good issue to pursue if indeed Which? made this guys name up and were attempting to slag our trade off as well as the good name of DASA by all this???

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint DC28 problem
Dave,
A humming noise usually means that the drain pump has jammed? The “humming” you refer to is a like 50 cycle (mains transformer type noise) I would imagine?
Normally on switch on you should instead hear a pump motor running and water trickling down the drain. If not, that’s your problem and if you need us to sort an engineer to fix it for you, simply click on this link:

Yep, that’s the filter. Calgon is fine and really will cure most of your problem here BUT it will get worse before it gets better (the crud in the drain filter I mean π )
A few service washes will help (once a month at first – minimum)
