NTL???…Oh Dear!!!I don’t know if you are a UKW subscriber?..if so you may have read yesterdays post on that lot :rotfl:

Like Dave, I’m with BT and not rushing for their “free up-grade” either, only because I consider their 512 system very adequate for my needs at this moment and clinging to the hope that the subs for the existing rate will be reduced to a level in line with their competition, to a more realistic price level (presently £29.99 +VAT per month which is OTT to say the least) 🙁

No probs with emails my end though Dave?????

No Ken , I referred to the ‘sysop’ at Which actually read and responded to my post, not you guys here in TWR! (It goes without saying that you guys read all the tripe I send out :rotfl: )

I have also posted a ‘weblink’ on Which-online to UKW with an explanation to those who didn’t already know, who we are and what the site provides the lucky visitor!

    More rubbish to follow…….!

Just ignore it for a while, calm yourself down, you have taken on board everything I and others have said in this case. Let it lie a while. Nothing will become of it anyway. eastlmark wrote:Am I mug still insisting on Gen Bosch parts? Making a measly £5 or so on a £45 pump?

There’s a lot to be said about fitting genuine Bosch parts, good quality and very reliable are but two virtues for doing just that. But when it comes to fitting their pumps at least, I will give my customers no option. Then will fit a pattern equivalent every time at only half the cost but possibly even ‘better’ quality, with 12months guarantee and I will make around £19.40* profit on each pump sold. My customer stands to loose nothing at all, quite the contrary. That pump will last every bit as long as the genuine, possibly longer AND will be cheaper to repair in years to come ‘cos it will only require fitting an ASKOLL pump motor to it at under a fiver!!!

The point here is that on a 5 plus year old Bosch/Siemens machine (whatever) many if not all customers are weighing up the cost of replacing (say in this case) the pump at £57.58 plus fitting (£30 to £60 in most cases)…so therefore to reduce the equation by at least 33{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} gives you a chance of doing the job AND more importantly keeping the machine running ’til next time it breaks down and they come back for further help and advice 😉

    Your choice?

Almost without doubt the element unit has failed (usually the thermocouple device…not replaceable on its own) A new Heater Unit can be obtained via this link:-

    Well, kind of 😕

Dave may be right about the Heater being at fault except usually when that is the case it would show “E1” in the display 🙁 However it cannot be ruled out as a possible thing to check. The easy way was suggested earlier by checking your electricity meter and IF the heater was working then the meter will whiz round quite quickly as the machine was washing. If the meter didn’t at that point, its likely that is your trouble 😉

However, the symptoms point directly to the motor and/or the connections to it. Or even dodgy contacts to the control module. None of these problems are too costly for an expert to fix for you. I would not nor could not advise DIY fixing and suggest you see if we have a recommended expert in your area by clicking on this link: –Repairs@

    Ron,

Thanks for that, OK now the machine fills as normal and then the drum turns does it? Do you get only the panel lights falshing or does an ‘Error Code’ not show up on the LED display unit?

It appears they do read their forum, copy enclosed: –

    Hello Martin

Welcome to Which? Online and the Forums.

I’m keen to get an explanation for you but are you referring to a Forum posting or is this from a specific report? If it’s from a report I wonder if you could give me the link to the report so that I may get in touch with the appropriate researcher.

    Thanks
    Sarah

Then I posted the ‘link’ to which I referred:-

Martin – I’ll get in touch with the appropriate research group for some claification but this may take a few days so please bear with us on this.

    Thanks

Cast nasturtiums..? Not me, just trying to work out when the shoosh hits the fan thats all ❓

(fan? that reminds me, he is posting on the Zan washer/dryer thread as well).

Now the part left Exeter on the 27th, so by my reconning it should arrive in Turku at best by Sat (30th) or more likely Monday (2nd), so we have a very uncertain weekend ahead 🙁
