Re: Siemens Top Line Washer/Dryer – not heating water

    Sam,

Then I have good news….IT IS NOT THE HEATER AT ALL

Your machine would not (I repeat WOULD NOT) complete a full wash/rinse/spin cycle if the element were at fault. In fact it would sit on the wash cycle for FOR EVER!!

Now say on a 40 degree wash cycle, you would hardly detect the heater warming up the water inside, because there is very little water in there to notice. :con:

So what makes you think the heater is faulty, is it not washing properly, are the clothes coming out well spun???

Do tell me more, so I can figure your problem out (by remote control as it were) 😀

    45cm Integrated eh

Not such a good idea, firstly they are overpriced, unreliable and hard to get fixed should they fail (and the failure rate is high by the way) 🙁 .

Why not make space, put in a full size, then you will be OK

Don’t tell me you haven’t got space in your kitchen as any local chippy (carpenter/joiner that is) can easily make space for you. 🙂

Just my opinion by the way, based on some experience in this area 😉

Crickey! Well out here in the sticks (Berkshire) we are talking £75 IN TOTAL to get it fixed (the brushes cost £12)………Not sure of London rates :con:

    Sam,

It is not a difficult job changing the heating element for someone with a decent set of tools and the knowledge of how to use them. The Heater (Part No: 263726 cost £29.73) available from: –

    http://www.bshappliancecare.com/bshspares.html

But firstly, and before taking that route, may I just ask, what are the symptoms that make you conclude the heater is faulty anyway ❓

I’m sorry there is no coverage from us in your area 😥

I would recommend you have it checked out at least and perhaps a local repairer can advise you further.

If for example it were just simply a question of replacing the motor brushes, then it could cost you up to no more than around £75 total. Worst case senario to consider (i.e. new Motor) around £110 total.

    Hope that helps 🙂

Most likely is the motor brushes have worn and need replacing. For obvious liability reasons we cannot advise exactly how one can effect such a repair without expert help. The cost to get it fixed however is likely not that costly. Check out our repairs@ section to get and engineer in to advise you further 😉

The most usual cause is the Thermal Cut-out fails, therefore a Thermostat Kit (Part No: 1701583 – Available in our shop@ ) is the most common cure. 🙂

13 times usually refers to a dryer temperature fault rather than during a rinse cycle 😕 . Did you have the dryer set as well when this fault showed up?

Take the panel off and lock the 2 halves of the knob together with a small self tapper instead……Sorted 8)
