Re: bosch dishwasher SGS5312 – stuck on rinse mode

    Ladies & Gentlemen!

For all those that have an interest in this topic (Google may have got you here in the first place 😉 ) It is likely whenever anyone experiences this type of problem (i. e washing/rinsing for 2 hours or more) that it is a HEATING, HEATER, or as is the most likely, a CONTROL MODULE fault 🙁

It is therefore NOT a ‘DIY fix’ but you will need to obtain expert help. If your problem falls into this area simply go into our “Directories” listing and check to see if you have a (UKW recommended service engineer) listed that could advise you directly and indeed fix the problem for a modest cost 🙂

    Deep joy! Just thrown a six…..one….two…..three….four….five….SIX 😀

😥 Oh!…..down the snake back to square one 😥

Don’t like this game, can we play something else?

But seriously, if I may indulge you all, enough of the vaguries of producing an Engineers Bible and get down to the specifics please? Bearing in mind my previous comments about the Haynes series, it is targetted to anyone that can make use of its informed pages, including engineers!

Can I suggest you all take a look at said publications and using that as an example, how can we incorporate the type of additional information you wish to include in any new production? Someone mentioned ‘Error Codes’?…sorry not possible to include as well you know due to the complexities of variation within product groups…what else should we stick in there?

‘How to evacuate and recharge a fridge unit?’ ‘How to diagnose a duff diode in a microwave?’ or even something more specific to the job….How the fuck am I going to get this Dishwasher out of here in and fix it in 30 minutes?’

    Ed,

OK then, one more go 🙂

If when you shut the door and turn the timer on full blast, and you hear the timer motor whirring (or ‘ticking’ using your expression) does the element heat up? ‘Cos if it does, the supply to the motor is the problem, or more likely as Dave says, the motor is duff 🙁

In other words if it all bursts into life ‘except’ for the motor turning…that’s the problem and you need to start hacking at that cupboard 🙂

Re: What happened to my post?

    dampshirts,

I should have added in my last post that the usual way to know if the capacitor is at fault, is that usually the motor just makes a slight humming noise! That at least confirms that power is going to the motor, and therefore no hum, possibly no power, and then look elsewhere for the fault 💡

It’s a shame we have lost Alex’s comments on the subject 🙁

But unlike Connect, I am sure he will answer that question VERY quickly indeed 8)

I don’t know whether you guys have made any further progress or not on this subject? Or indeed if anyone other than me has got hold of a copy of a Haynes Manual? But meanwhile I have spotted a possible opening in the marketplace here, namely a ‘Washer/Dryer Manual’ not covered as yet by Mr Dixon 😉

Re: hoover bearing / seal numbers

    chezza,

The all important Drum Bearing Seal is Part No: 09028960 but the Ball Race Bearings are standard (get from anywhere sizes) not sure the sizes though, so cannot quote you 😉 If the Drum Shaft Counterface is needed then that is Part No: 09078080 🙂

Re: What happened to my post?

    Ed,

The usual faults on these machines are the most likely to wear, namely the door catch/door switch.

Assuming they are OK then from what you say it could well be yet another common fault with these, the Capacitor 😉
