ParticipantRe: bosch WFXI2840 timing
It’s a rare phenomena for you to seek help Dave so clearly this one is a teaser for sure.
This machine takes Fuzzy logic to an extreme in that is senses loading, foam levels and fill temperatures together to increase and decrease wash timings seemingly very randomly indeed.
You mentioned heater resistance, well that has to be at least 100meg plus not to give problems. Drain out timings are another major cause of timing issues. No doubt you’ve checked all that and come up with nothing so, yes, what’s left is the control module. 🙁

Faulty FSD?
A word of caution here: Gas appliances are NOT something DIY’ers should mess with. Clearly from the question it is fair to conclude you are not qualified to attempt to repair the appliance. Therefore I urge you to seek professional help for your own safety.

ParticipantRe: Philips electric oven not heating
Oh dear Peter, we have to assume that DIYers that attempt such work have a fair degree of electrical know how to be competent enough to be able to do basic resistance tests on elements. That element should have a 20 to 30 ohm resistance reading for starters to at least confirm it should work. As for the TOC, that is attached directly to the oven cavity (somewhere though I’m not sure on this model where).

ParticipantRe: Philips electric oven not heating
Is the new element faulty? Are the connections to it fitted correctly? Is the in-line thermal cut out (aka TOC) faulty?
That should cover most reasons. 😉

ParticipantRe: JLWM 1604 problem
If the heating element has an earth leak that can cause crazy things to happen to the electronics.

ParticipantRe: Water leaking from detergent drawer
The small vent hose that connects between the dispenser and the tub is blocked with gunge.

ParticipantRe: Hoover HWD814D
That would be an HWB814D which does have a brush motor. I think it is an integrated machine also. 🙁

Ah yes the BBC have emigrated up there, it all happens in Salford then.
I was going to Cardiff today to support the the lads but my travelling companion has thrown a sickie. So I’ll just watch Bournemouth beat the Magpies instead. 😀

Left set on the snowflake symbol and it will just wash with cold water (inlet water temperature) irrespective of what programme selection you make.

Ronaldo couldn’t have done better, what a goal! I don’t even know where Salford is (up’t North somewhere?) but those guys, to a man, are an inspiration to the game….2nd round here they come!

ParticipantRe: Yellow Pages Cockup
Nobody but nobody uses YP these days. They don’t even deliver copies door to door around here anymore. The last one I had delivered I took the cellophane off it and put it straight in the recycling bin. (And felt good that I was helping to save the planet).
Squadman, demand a full refund. They have reneged on your contract. And pull the plug on this wasted advertising. YP is dead in the water!

The push button just pulls off. (Often with a gentle aid of a penknife). Once removed the switch’s fixing lugs can be pushed inwards allowing the switch unit to be pulled away from the fascia panel.

It was a truly inspiring match and such a follow up to last night’s ‘Class of 92’. Nice one Salford…(With a little help from former Man U stars of yesteryear) 😉

kwatt wrote:I know you’re not involved in contract work Martin and haven’t been for a long time, you were out of it long before all these sorts of “services” came to the fore so you probably don’t get what some of it is about. That’s fine.
You’re correct I gave up contract work yonks back (1980’s when Appliance Care were born and cancelled all Bosch agents contracts). I foolishly accepted an LG agency (around 2005) but threw in the towel less than 6 months later.
But history lesson aside, over the years I did hand out work to my neighbouring competitors work I either couldn’t or wouldn’t do. Expecting and receiving a little financial ‘thank you’ for my ‘referral services’. Not the same type of referral business we refer to today but nonetheless I was providing extra work they otherwise would not have or indeed get.
I beg to disagree with you and say that what referral services do IS provide extra work. But yes the work does exist though they have no way of getting it. Both you and I have tirelessly urged all indies to be more proactive in sourcing their own work by beating them at their own game by running their own website. Even those we’ve seen have realised the logic and got web pages up and running are, with little exception, c-r-a-p! Sitting crossed legged in the High St with a begging bowl would yeald better results.
So yes, these companies add to a whole plethora of middle men in providing a service many of us need, want and can’t do without in many cases. Where would many be without CDSL taking their cut of the action. What is the difference, really eh?
