    Re: AEG 72640 (9140024081)

It displays as an error to the user only. Using the diagnostics routine (EMW1000 plus electronics) you get error codes from E41 – E45, all of which are interlock based errors as you know.

E4? Errors relate to the interlock, you answered your own question.

The outer (metal) door prises off the inner (plastic) door and the catch screws on the inside. Very simple fix.

Re: drum shaft or no drum shaft ?

The “national company” would always seek the cheaper option. Drum shafts are expensive and often part of the drum so often uneconomical to replace anyway.

Depends on the damage the bearings have done to the shaft especially the water seal collar…?

Quick ‘get out of jail’ is the national company option even when the shaft is badly damaged. That would NEVER be my choice under any circumstances and declaring the appliance BER commonplace when bearings are an issue.

Check motor brushes and heater first I’d say. Saves farting about pressing buttons, getting no clue into the bargain. 😉

You used 4 litres (7 pints….wow!) in your old Zanussi

Chlorinated wrote:I have just been to see my doctor regarding my chemical sensitivities and the topic of my washing machine came up. I told her how I inhaled a lot of fumes after putting 4 litres of bleach into the washer, leaving it overnight and washing it the next day. She said that at that dosage and overnight, any bacteria in the machine would have been killed by direct contact or even contact with bleach fumes.

    Dermatological issues
    Old sludged up machine
    Used soap nuts, Ecover even
    Considering using Eco Balls
Thrown huge quantities of bleach in machine
Skin so damaged it split and needed stitches…..

Has your GP not referred you to see a Dermatologist? Persisting in this pointless effort trying to resolve your sludged up machine and your skin problems getting worse all the while is getting you nowhere. The advice given to you in this forum has has been largely ignored. These are the facts so far anyway. 🙁

Contact BSH for a wiring conversion chart. I wouldn’t mind betting the part was supplied by CDSL?

Sorry but way off topic I know. 🙁

…..but I don’t give a monkeys. On Monday I used their a global shipping sending a Bosch motor end frame to Portugal and a guy in Greece has bought a Bosch module off me for shipping tomorrow when I get time to go to the local post office. (Expats seeking rare spares 😉 )

Most makes include a drain hole. It prevents condensation build-up in the bearing hub.
