Re: Hotpoint tumble dryer heater thermostats

The cycling stat on the fuse circuit would still cut on and off the heat as normal. So in effect there would be little or no detectable consequence of them being swapped over I would imagine.

Other websites that are associated with the trade especially other repair help sites have posts that include the phrase. On ‘diynot’ and ‘just answer’ I’ve spotted a few which undoubtedly means someone is using the ‘copy & paste’ facility. So if the expression is unique to UKW then their trade members posts are getting spread further afield in the process.

The lock ring holds it in place from the inside. The drum has to come out Steve for access. 🙁

There’s an appalling, bad taste joke doing the rounds at White Hart Lane. What’s the difference between Oscar Pistorius and Tottenham Hotspur? Pistorius has a better defence and gets more shots on target.

Very likely, yes. The dryer element will have a leak to earth ( not detectable using a multimeter) the use of an Insulation Tester (aka Megger) is required and a leak in excess 40 megohms would be sufficient to cause problems such as you describe.

    Re: Duel fuel cooker repairs

Gas Safe themselves are very blasé about it stating the usual “……as long as you don’t touch the gas pipes”. simply because there are far too many dual fuels and not enough Gas Safe to fix them.

But the ….last person to touch it is reason enough NOT to get involved if you can possibly avoid it. Gas Safe themselves can issue court proceedings should they consider the last guy to attend should not have touched it if they find problems later. Problem not necessarily connected with the dual fuel either.

Also, you must declare to your PL insurers that you mess with gas appliances otherwise you will find yourself right in it!!!

You should post this stuff in Trade Technical Dave. 🙁

Was the display and control buttons OK before you changed the brushes? Also, have you tried pressing and holding the start button for 5secs?
