It’s just that Calgon don’t make such a product for dishwashers and I was assuming your customer was therefore using the same stuff as Calgon make for washing machines, maybe?

    Re: The term white goods

White goods was a term coined a little later, probably late 60’s? To distinguish the two distinct categories of retail domestic electical products. Namely ‘white goods’ (washers and fridges) and ‘brown goods’ (TV’s, radios and record players).

    Re: Main Fan Element

Totally isolate the power (cooker wall switch and cooker trip switch on consumer unit).

Inside oven cavity you will see the 4 screws holding the back plate in front of the fan, remove backplate to expose full access to the element. Beyond that it is all too apparent what to do next. Reassemble in reverse order.

From my dim and distant memory banks I think it’s a problem related to the hot valve?

Now at least we have established you are using the correct salt for your water softener. Nothing special about the Waitrose product over other brands of dishwasher salt granules, except perhaps the nonsencse spiel their website describes it. So, no the resin would not be affected, the ‘backwash’ part of the water softening cycle will ensure any contaminents are removed and flushed away.

I don’t regard your water softener as the cause of the smearing anyway. More likely the rinse aid in fact. Too much rinse aid would result in what you describe. Insufficient rinse aid however could cause spotting especially on glassware.

You could try a few cycles by NOT using rinse aid to test the effect. Always use a normal wash not a quick wash as quick wash can also create these smears especially so if you use a full load.

One other thought : Does the top basket have the worst results?

I would replace the bearings and seal having gone to that trouble anyway. They should be a doddle to remove, just apply a light greasing to the recess when tapping in new bearings.

That counterface does seem a little proud I must say. It’s been donkey’s years since I last did one and I recall they didn’t stick up quite so much but almost sat in a recess but I may be mistaken?

Re: Bosch washing machine not wash or spin model classixx 10

Any BSH engineer could only guess at what fails on the control board. They only change the board and don’t get down to component replacement or testing. If it don’t work they throw one in and cross fingers.

As to what can cause no power to the motor then it’s either a relay, triac, capacitor or resister failing. The more likely of those is the relay.

No not the right thread as that relates to an electric oven. It would be more relevant had you posted a separate thread as it is gas.

But smell of gas, spark no light is a dangerous situation you have there. The best suggestion therefore is to seek local help from a Gas Safe registered engineer. This is NOT a DIY fix I would further venture to suggest.

Can you give us the full model number (ENr no) etched on the stainless door liner?
