How interesting it would be to realise the outcome of this, though I doubt little more will be heard of robgil’s story. His admission of finding ……”several coins and half a pencil” gives a clue as to the abuse it had been subjected to so I wish him well in getting a successful resolve, albient a very costly excercise. A typical tale overall.

ParticipantRe: Customer warranties on repairs
Yeah I get it Cras believe me. It is good to vent your frustration here after all. A Samsung too, bloody wonder it lasted a month never mind two years!

ParticipantRe: Customer warranties on repairs
What! You don’t give lifetime guarantees? What’s the phone number of TS’s, I want to complain. 😉

Standard reply from Connect. The best defence is denial after all. In truth we know differently don’t we. The fact is all oven elements irrespective of make, pattern or genucrap all are a risky investment. Your tale typical, try getting a refund from Connect and we will all follow on behind you. 😉

In that case the correct TOC is THIS one.Martin
ParticipantRe: smeg oven not working
Well you didn’t tell us the model number of this Smeg oven but generally a TOC only operates when temperature exceeds the pre-set limit (say 180Celsius). So from cold ( i.e on switch on) there’s no way that’s going to happen to such a part. So I have no clue what’s going on there TBH. 🙁

GlenM wrote:Probably worth replacing it at £27 then?
Well it reads 1Kohm and it should be 6Kohm so I’d say that would be a good move. 😀

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WT721 F08 error code
You are correct, the resistance across those terminals (measured in Kohms) will change as the temperature fluctuates up or down. 😀

It must be going through a mental breakdown judging by that, blimey!
GlenM wrote:I took out the temperature probe to test the resistance and got a reading of 1.05 K Ohms at ambient temperature, which was probably about 18 – 20 degrees.
It should be around 6kohms at 20C 🙁

Normally closed.

You’ve not fitted the correct part I would think. You’ve sussed the fault for sure but the part you replaced it with is wrong. Try and source the right one.
