It may surprise you to know that these machines are indeed switched on the neutral side. Time to take a look inside.

Does it display an error code?

If the answer is no then you will have to access the diagnostics cycle in order to determine if an error was detected.

What have you checked so far?

It’s not the “power in connector” but something else that involves removing side panels (with power disconnected of course).

Suspects are the heater and the main circulating pump. Is there signs of water in the base tray? Does the pump look corroded in the vacinity of the pump drive shaft seal? Do you have a test meter to determine the state of the heater element? Any signs of rodent activity?

    Questions, questions. 😉

Ah yes “bacon flavoured crisps” eh? Then that’ll mean that the inner stainless drum has caught the grey rubber door seal for whatever reason. It could mean the drum has become loose and is snagging the rubber OR the machine wash overloaded and clothes trapped OR the dreaded wired bra caught between the two surfaces. 😕

Dodgy gas installs usually result in far more dramatic circumstances and consequently who to blame difficult to determine…….

Wow! These questions keep on coming don’t they?

Let’s compress the answers because you and your company don’t mess with fridges then there is little need to dwell. But it is only polite to help a fellow ‘in the trade’. 😉

1: Yes very common source of trouble.
    2: They all have.
3: In all types. Electronic controlled are built within the circuit.
4: Two separate evaporators, two stats or Thermistors.

I have a couple of questions for YOU : What make of insulation tester did your boss supply you with in the end? And how are you getting on with using it?

Why or for what reason would the manufacturer ask the customer for a Gas Safe engineers number?

You’ll need to replace the hinges to sort that problem out.

Ain’t that the truth, but spurious electrical interference causes havoc with the logic board. Error codes therefore are only a guide and can lead you up the wrong garden path for sure!

Tell you what? Take the leads off the heater (be sure and insulate them) then turn on the machine. The E03 error should vanish thus confirming our suspicions.

Re: Bosch SGS5002GB/07 timer stops/not heating

Let me recall the story so far. You have 240v to the heater microswitch and the neutral return on the heater. But because the flow microswitch doesn’t operate (for whatever reason) there’s no supply direct to the heater? But if you bypassed the microswitch (albeit a temporary test) and fed that instead to the heater then it still fails to heat?

Maybe I got all of the above wrong here, not sure ❗

Interestingly Bosch diswashers are switched on the neutral side so perhaps you only have a live feed down there and no neutral return. That being the case then the control unit may be at fault.

Thermistors on the top of the heater unit are usually pretty reliable by the way.

It ain’t the PCB so you’re already 20 quid down. As my colleague advises, just change the heater, that’ll sort it. And don’t buy it off eBay either. This website can supply, just go to the online shop.

It could well be the mains filter (Part no. 00600233) that has blown. It is located in the panel behind the mains cable going into the back of the appliance. Access via removal of the RHand side panel.

Be sure and unplug before messing in there!!!! :plug:

I have a few yes, like most folks I suppose. The clock in my garden serves me well when doing work on my estate and glancing up at the time. The church clock across the village green has become a little unreliable of late. Each time I check the time it always seems to show 25 to 11 whereas with my garden clock I never miss lunch or afternoon tea! 8)

The major flaw in that time piece is that you get wet in the process. The beauty of the combined outdoor thermometer/clock is that those two facts are established at a glance without getting wet or going outside. Plus they are a great feature to have year round in the garden. The only negative I find is that twice a year I have to take it down to change the time (BST/GMT) and that’ll be any day now. 🙁
