I’m guessing you refer to those ‘anti-vabration pads’ you can buy on the Internet? That being the case, with or without them under the feet of the machine will make little or even no difference overall. Provided the machine is level, the adjusting feet locked in place and the machine stood on firm ground, all will be well as they are. 🙂

HSE have nothing whatsoever to do with the safety recall, that was entirely a internal decision by Whirlpool. Whilst I respect your confidence in the modification I would advise caution when operating this appliance.
Back on topic I would suspect that the heating element is the most likely source of the problem causing the RCD to trip. 🙁

Not connected with that issue then?
Just out of interest, how confident are you toward using this dryer, and did you feel the safety recall modification would ensure no likelyhood your dryer would catch fire anytime since that vital modification?

ParticipantRe: Haier washing machine spinning too soon
The program controller ultimately dictates to the tacho generator the speed it wants the motor to rotate. The tacho generator feeds back the generated voltage requirement the controller is asking for. The two work hand in hand to operate a smooth transition between the various speeds needed (i e. Tumble, distribution speed in the ramp up to slow and fast spin).
Most commonly when irratic speeds are produced the fault is centred toward the tacho rather than the controller. Therefore I suggest you start there first before concluding any blame on the controller.

The microswitch is indeed operated by a plunger of sorts or flow control device to put it another way. That is operated by the rapid flow of water from the main circulating pump through the heater box and up to the spray arms. I would think you are getting poor circulation of water through to those spray arms. So either the holes in the spray arms are clogged or the circulating pump impeller is either broken or blocked. The latter you can inspect from the sump using a small inspection mirror and torch. If its clogged you can often clear any detritus with a hooked bit of wire or some such….Enjoy! 🙂

The tacho generator on the motor (fitted on the end opposite the drive pulley) is the trouble. Either the connections to it are broken, the magnet has failed or the coil is open circuit.

Not collecting water in the drawer means either the pump isn’t working or, the more likely, that the nozzle at the back of the drawer is blocked. Simple to fix, lid off, remove hose, clean nozzle, blow down hose to ensure no further blockages, refit. To test simply remove drawer, carefully pour on pint of water into cavity, refit drawer, turn on and in seconds that pint should have pumped up into the water container drawer. Simples! 🙂

DIYdisaster wrote:Would this be a big (i.e. time consuming) job for a competent engineer?
Certainly not.
DIYdisaster wrote:And how long do you think it would take to do the job?
30 minutes in total

Do you have any feeling as to whether the major cost of this job the price of the replacement part or the engineer’s time? The part (00165281) costs about £18 + 30 mins labour
DIYdisaster wrote:Also, do you know what the typical lifespan is of this make/model? I appreciate it’s impossible to say for my particular unit, but in general and in your experience, if this repair was done do you feel I could reasonably expect a few more years trouble-free use from it? Basically this will help to establish whether the repair will be economic or not.
Oh somewhere between 5 and 10 years if used once a day. 5 years max if the water softener isn’t used because those 3 in 1 tablets are no alternative to softened water. 10 years if the manufacturers recommendations were adhered to the letter.

Take a read of the installation instructions first (if you can’t find your copy then download one from Neff’s spare part website. It is essential you reverse the installation procedure with regard to unscrewing the top fixings and lowering the adjustable feet before dragging it out. Once you do that it is not heavy at all and comes out easily as a rule.
DIYdisaster wrote:Also, how on earth do you level it up when it is back in its recess? I have spirit levels, but none that I can use in such restricted height…
Again it’s all shown in those all important installation instructions.

ParticipantRe: Bosch Classix internal leak
Prime suspects:
1) Tiny pin hole sized rust holes in stainless tub under the drain sieve area.
2) Small puncture hole in plastic heater unit.
3) Black rubber tub seal perished.
4) Main circulation pump shaft seal leak.
5) Transfer tube between fill matrix and tub blocked.
6) Bottom door seal perished. All have to be studiously checked whilst machine is upright and running. Beware of messing ‘cos electricity kills…!!!
The steam vent hose by the way just pokes into a retaining lug just beyond the mains cable inlet and directly behind the heater box.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WAK28160 reset procedure
It should still be the same ‘6 o’clock rock’ procedure. Have you tried the ‘disconnecting the motor’ trick as well before kicking the cat?

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFD 2060 no power
Soot on boards is normal and just needs brushing off, so I suspect the board being fried may not be the case. Replacements are readily available if you go to Bosch’s OWN dedicated spare parts website
If that board really is “fried” you had better first determine what caused it to. They don’t usually self-destruct. 😉
