Re: Miele dishwasher PCB transistor blown up

Marvelous little things. Switching amps of current at mains voltage using little more than halve a volt and very little current at it’s gate terminal!

Not sure what the difference would be Simon but it sounds like a similar device.
Another problem may be that the circuitry that drives the triac gate may have been damaged if the original triac has blown apart.

Re: ISE 10 F3 check this!

The later pumps were supposed to seal properly without needing the o ring mod, but it would seem that a lot of them would still benefit from it.
The problem i had was a machine that had a brand new pump fitted!

I would say it is not draining properly.
It may be draining enough so as not to bring up an ‘F3’ code but not completely enough to register empty at end of cycle.

Ooops sorry didn’t notice the date of the post.
Don’t go to any trouble Steve I’m fairly sure it’s the board as it’s about the only thing left.

Hi Steve, did you find that it was the pcb? only I have one with the same fault!

Probably the 680uF capacitor going down on the main board

Sorry Jim, been away from computer – the RS stock code for the ones I use is – 152-347 (W21 vitreous wirewound resistor,22R 2.5W)

    Re: Whirlpool PCB?

Hi Mike, you are right about it’s function, and when I was trying to source a fusible wirewound, I couldn’t find one.
I believe any wirewound rated at only 2W – 2.5W will fuse if overcurrent, in fact before I started using the RS vitrous ones, I used types bought from cpc, which tended to go open circuit with just the action of turning the wall socket on!(initial surge).
Since using the vitrous type I have had no failures, but my reasoning is that if the repair didn’t work, then it would have needed a new board anyway.
Another thought! The White ceramic resistors on the servis modules used to be a problem with going o/c but I don’t think they were anything other than ordinary wirewounds. :hmm:
