Got called out to this today, a Creda TD400 dryer that’s 28 years old in a shed. Looks a bit rusty around the gills but it has worked flawlessly for 28 years until now. Just replaced the TOC and off she went, who knows maybe another 28 years 😉 😛

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
Hi all, i’m new to the trade forum 🙂 . When i get a customer phoning me and i tell her i’ll call at 2pm and she replies ” well i have to go somewhere at 1.30pm and won’t be back all evening so can you make it earlier?”
So i then bust my balls and get there fo about 1pm. Turns out a big job and i’m still there at 2pm and there is absolutely no sign of her even getting ready to go anywhere, she had no intentions of going anywhere at 1.30pm 😡 . They say this to get you there as quick as they can.. I have encountered this a few times.
Another one is ” i can’t find my cheque book and i’ll post it to you” which of course never arrives and months later they have the neck to phone you again for another repair.
Another customer would give me this sob story why he couldnt pay me and listing all his problems (wonder if he would be interested hearing mine?)and of course has caught me out a few times that he would post the money which i never got.
I got revenge though as they called me out for a another problem with their washing machine and when i got there it was a very simple cheap fix but i told them the machine was beyond repair so they had to go shopping out for a new machine 😈Micky 32
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint BFI 68 problem
Problem turned out to be the capacitor on the motor. It would sit there and hum for a while and then the lights would light up.

In my experience with these machines if there is a drain problem it doesn’t show a fault code. If the machine doesn’t empty it will carry on and go into a spin and throw the water all over the floor out through the soapbox.
Check and make sure there is enough water pressure and that it isn’t filling too slow and that the drum rotates in the wash so it’s not a brush problem.

First thing i would check are the brushes on the motor 😉 Had a call to one of these machines with the same symptoms which was caused by worn motor brushes.

ParticipantRe: Hoover AL 130 error code
This one does. It has a small lcd screen with wash time etc and the message error 7 came up with a beep. I’m not totally sure it could be a AI 130 or AL 130 sportswear six machine. It’s emptying and filling and spinning ok.

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wma32 washer fault
Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Recently I have gone to 2 houses with this problem. Door won’t lock and the flashing light. On the 2 occasions a track was blown on the computer board. As there was nothing to lose i repaired the blown track and tried the machine. Both machines wouldn’t spin. Brushes had gone on both. Once the brushes were replaced the machines worked and still do perfectly. Arcing from worn brushes might cause this too.

By the way, the motor needs stripping and cleaning, clean the comm with a bedding stick and ensure the brushes are free in their holders. Any earth leakage will cause problems, megger to check. 😉
Yeah done all the comm cleaning etc, still does it. I reckon resistance has changed in the motor. The arcing from worn brushes must have damaged motor.
