Very true MartinBut this time I have even resorted to pop rivet it back together… Now it does actually feel more solid. LOL

I hear that on the next generation of hotpoints, they will hve a small touch screen unit..
Basically it will ask things likeDo you want reverse spin? Yes..no…don’t really mind
Do you want interlock to go .”bang,bang,bang. Or just bang? Yes/no
Display colour Red,green, pink, orange, or user defined.?Washing sound effects. Yes/no
Andy you have given us all a chuckle, and for that we are grateful…
Maybe you should get a job with hotpoint ?Martin

I’m in the middle of putting one back together this morning, after having a scraping noise from it yesterday after fitting new bearing kit.
On this one I have noticed at the bottom of the rear panel, there are locating lugs..which had not been located correctly..having now popped these back in to place, it does seem to be going back together more solidly….I hope all works when I switch on later…

Are u happy with it washing in a anticlockwise direction?
Maybe it takes in to little water?
Have u measured the time a wash takes, to the actual times quoted..
And if i were you id also check the length if the mains lead… Compared to your old machine!

Another thing you could try, is to remove the belt from the motor..and spin the motor by hand…it could be the bearings in that have gone and are the cause of the noise… Worth a try before you decide it’s time for new drum bearings

Sorry, just to clarify.. When i say to lift the drum..i meant to say put your finger inside the door, and just slightly lift the inner drum at the 12 o clock position…

I’ve never had to do the reset procedure after putting a new switch in…I think that’s only applicable if you have had to clean out the filter/pump, and the machine has been layed flat down on either its back, or sides, this lets water run up tube and in to switch…
Or so I believe….unless anyone knows different?

The round piece attached to the motor is the “start capacitor” it’s this that kick start the motor in to action… Replace this and you should be up and running again…
Power off when you remove the old one..and take careful note of the way the wires are attached to the terminals…Make sure you replace with the correct value capacitor for your machine ..

If its making a high pitched noise when on the spin cycle, it’s more than likely your bearings need replacing…try putting you finger on the top of the stainless steel drum and lifting up with your finger slightly… If you encounter any movement there..it’s usually a sign of worn bearings..
Not sure if your machine employs a sealed drum unit. If this is the case then the bearings alone can’t be replaced..only the complete drum assembly…(expensive)…
Someone on here should be able to tell you if this is the case, as I have not worked on this model before..

Sounds like it could be a dodgy pressure switch
