Cheers Martin, I had better get to specsavers 😳

Edit: Just tried with this ENR WVTI284GB/03 and it still didn’t recognise it. :hmm: But I’ve got it from your part number anyway, so it’s all good 8)

Thanks Tim, I’ve asked the customer to pull the machine out and try it again, but it is still only filling a little bit then aborting. 🙁

I am going to go out tomorrow and have a look :rolls:

No, it’s a good old drive out (aren’t they always :rolls: ) so I was hoping to go armed with some ideas.

Yeah, I’ve had a couple of these, they run the neutral through the TOC, so that blows and whole machine goes dead. 😯

Update on this, the lights weren’t flashing but just wouldn’t cancel, I unplugged the machine gave the fascia board connection a squeeze, reconnected and it appears to be ok 😕
We’ll see if this re-occurs or if it is just ‘one of those things’ :rolls:

Perhaps that’s because I’m totally independent, though. Never have had to lie about my opinion of a manufacturer or their products in order to keep my job. Truth is, it only took 6 months training twenty odd years ago to set me on this road and I’m still learning every day so I find it hard to think of myself as a “professional”. That’s a term I associate with doctors, lawyers, teachers and tarts. This is a niche business in that it’s escaped regulation. I think one reason is that the trade is small, there’s not that many of us, some of us only have one foot in this side whilst doing other stuff (e.g. plumber, electrician) to earn a crust. That makes it difficult for the authorities to pin us down, to define who we are and what we do, and not worth spending millions on to try and regulate us. I’m happy for it to stay that way.
The odd rogue is going to be there, come what may. I reckon that started in the 1970’s BC, not AD. For the most part, customers don’t need the BBC to tell them there’s rogues out there. They’re all too well aware of it. Once they know you, though, their fear of trying new people works in your favour. As has been said many times on here, do a good job for a reasonable price and you’ll set yourself up with a good customer base in the long term.
    Mike.

Re: Hotpoint WM63 – Lack of Spin

Is the machine only failing to spin or is there a draining issue as well, I have come across this lots of times, where the machine will run through no problem but on second or third wash it fails to drain completely and spin, normally turns out to be the pump. HTH

I had one of these a couple of months ago, turned out it was a crack in one of the legs on the spider, although I couldn’t feel any movement when pulling at the drum.

You have to wonder what exactly Trading Standards are doing, 70 complaints and no investigation?

I have been trading 13 years, and the first time somebody contacted TS about me (wrongly, I might add) they were on me like stink on sh*t. 😯

Bad part is now we will all either have a drop in calls, or will have the customer perched on our shoulders whilst we work.

Good part was when they confronted him, Rabbit in the headlights anyone? 😆

Returned to this tonight, and ran it through the service mode, everything checked out ok. So I plugged in a new heater and sure enough the machine came back to life 😀 nice one chaps.
