There should be a rating label somewhere around the front of the machine – it’ll say SI520 on it and have a code number starting with 9…….
    That’s the one we need.

Reading to earth from any pin on the motor should be 2Mohms or greater at least.

A good clean up will do no harm – get all the old carbon dust out, it might make a difference.

If not, we’ll need the full model reference as there are two versions of this machine.

Indesit motors tend to be in the order of £80-£100, so it might be coming towards decision time.

Prewash lamp is always the board gone – cheap enough, £48 from SEME from memory.

Unless it’s the prewash option lamp flashing – that one means the child lock is set.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

Toga was the baby penguin who got nicked before Christmas – no sign since. Pity, we had hopes for him come the revolution.

We’ll need the actual count Paul – ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat. This should be occuring once the dial is clunking round.

Couple of screws at the back normally and a bit of a wrestle with the support wire. Be careful not to let the wires slip back inside, or you’ll be dragging the whole oven out to retrieve them.

With the machine empty and the filter cover removed, select a spin or drain programme. Hands and knees, check whether the impellor is actually running or not. If it does not run, pull the plug and check for blockages/objects back at the impellor – a torch is useful at this point. 5p’s, elastic bands, hair grips are all capable of getting through the filter and will stop the pump.

If all is clear, it may well be that the pump has failed. An engineer may be your best course of action, or a replacement can be ordered through spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk .

V4380X0GB/13 perhaps? Top half available p/no 289674, although the whole thing can be pulled apart for cleaning – there is an inner section to the roof which can be teased out.

Re: Hotpoint Ultima WMA60 Spin problem

Flashing light means that the out of balance system has been activated. This can operate on a nuisance basis when the machine gets older. If it’s a regular problem, the only real solution is a replacement computer board.

Personally I wouldn’t bother, due to expense – and there are far superior machines out there.
