No real maintenance required, although I’d do a bit of backwards testing before use. Run spin to check motor and pump work; then a rinse to make sure there are no leaks and it drains properly.

As it has been stood for a long time you would be best advised to perform a SERVICE WASH before putting it to work.

    Bearing amnd seal set HERE.

Possibly the easiest bearing change ever – motor and pulley off, three bolts for the bearing housing to undo and it all pulls out backwards. Then out with the big hammer and drift.

Make sure that the pipes behind the bottom rotor are located properly. If they’re out you lose pressure to both rotors.

    Failing that, the pump………..

Re: Bosch 1200 S Express – Noisy drum bearing

Putting the eNr number into http://www.bshcustomerservice.com shows a machine with a splittable tank, albeit requiring a great deal of effort. Note that bearing failure is normally identified by a dull rumbling sound which will get progressively louder as the wear increases and play can be detected at the front of the inner drum.

If the squeak is a little “Sqeeee” sound as the drum starts and stops, it’s the bearing seal which needs lubricating – split the tub job.

DRIVE BELT, MOTOR CARBON BRUSHES or good old Indesit electronics are your prime targets.

    Power off first, please.

Re: Help please flooding Zanussi DCE5655

The drain pump running regardless of the programme status is a sure sign that there is water in the tray under the machine. There is a float mechanism which rises up with the water level and will trip a microswitch, which in turn activates the flood protection mode. Pump, pump, pump….

If this is happening regularly, there is either a slow leak dripping into the base, or the air bell on the back of the machine is at least partially choked and causing false water level readings. Either way, you need to get the wrap-over casing off and observe what is actually going on.

Power off for anything other than observation, please.

You won’t believe this… Took off front cover, replaced wire onto carbon brush. Gave it a nip with the pliers, so it won’t do it again.

It’s a SMEG-built machine. Check mains suppressor isn’t cracked open, sub an inlet valve onto the dispenser wires and if that doesn’t do it, change the start/run capacitor.

If it still won’t behave it’s pcb time. Eastlmark might be able to advise on a SMEG part number, as buying a replacement from Whirlpool is horrifically expensive.
