Is that where Batman lives? 😆 Well, it makes a change from penguin jokes.

Check the rear motor mounting on the tub. Perhaps the plastic bush is missing or the bracket is broken.

Collecting washing machines? Now that is sad! :rolls: I had a Liberator machine that I used off and on until I broke it up 3 or 4 years ago but mine was the ordinary sort with wrap around cabinet. I still have the instruction book for it somewhere. Not very PC but quite entertaining with the ’70s fashion etc.

Presumably you are not hearing the fan working then?

If there’s a timer on the cooker make sure it’s set to manual. It could be the thermostat but there are other possibilities like a burnt out wire somewhere. The thermostat operates like a switch so it’s continuity can be checked using a multimeter set to a low ohms range.

No, I was probably confusing the issue there. The inverter microwaves don’t have the big capacitor and the magnetron wires go to a circuit board mounted in the base of the machine.

I wonder if the leak could be from the joint where the bottom of the condenser meets the tub? You really need to run it with the back off and observe it leaking in operation.

As the magnetron is a type of thermionic valve there is not much you can check on it with the meter, apart from the heater filament, which rarely fails. You therefore have to use the Sherlock method and eliminate everything else, leaving just the magnetron. You can check the capacitor, which will get charged by the multimeter battery and show increasing resistance until it goes to infinity. You can also check the primary and secondary resistances on the transformer. The diode will normally read open circuit in both directions on a normal multimeter but you can still check for shorts. There may also be a short circuit protection diode which can ironically also go short circuit. If the other parts check out OK you can be pretty certain the magnetron is cream crackered. On the other hand, if it’s an inverter type machine, that’s a whole different ball game!

They usually have centre tap elements so perhaps one half has burnt out. My own Triton shower is not very warm just now but that’s because the incoming cold water is not much over freezing.

That is amazingly cheap, I wonder how much a suitable phone would cost?
Just remembered what date it is 😳

Take the belt off and try turning it by hand again. It could be something stuck between the inner and outer drums, broken drum bearings or broken motor bearings.

Not been to any since I went to the last ever Stonehenge one in 1984. It was quite an experience though 😯

Some useful tips there  I did one the other week and made the mistake of taking the front off, quite a job getting everything lined up properly to get it back together.
