    Re: dammed public

It does make you wonder what these people do in the end. I suppose they find a friend / relative / neighbour who will have a go. 😕

Perhaps the doors are all like that then. Thanks.

    Re: Indesit Pressure switch

Thanks Jim. The other number also comes up as a multi pin plug job. Well I fitted it and it seems to work OK. I connected the 20 something wires to the 30 something connections, with insulting tape on a middle spade to stop them shorting.

    Re: SIMPLE PCB REPAIR TIPS

Servis M6500W-1 uses PCB Elmarc Mini QCP_E DC, part No. 546089203 Machine was pumping on all settings including “Stop”. EMW don’t repair this board so I had a go. Traced fault to short circuit triac, BTB04-600SL at top edge of board next to the main multi pin sockets. New triac (58p from Farnell) cured fault. 😀

    Re: hotpoint drum spider wf240

Just re-use the spider unless the bearings are loose on the shaft. The seal does not have to seal against the shaft surface. one part of the seal turns with the shaft, the other stays still in the tub.

    Re: hotpoint drum spider wf240

I thought there was only the 35mm one available. If the spider needs to be changed you have to also renew the rear half tub for the 35mm shaft one. Whats wrong with the spider anyway?

I suggest you write a nasty letter to Zanussi. You have not only got a raw deal as a consumer but look at all the wasted energy used in building machines with such a short lifespan.

    Re: LG Door Slack

These machines were over £600 when new so a bearing job might be worthwhile. I’ve no idea what’s involved though as I’ve never done a direct drive machine.

    Re: COLD WASH

I suppose in my case I save money by using a cold fill machine. My combi boiler is a long way from the washer so you have to run about a gallon of water before it starts running hot. That first gallon just sits in the pipes when the machine stops filling but all of that water has been instantly heated by the boiler…..

I usually buy the shaft kit 1703080. That comes with square and teardrop bearings, the front pads and front and rear felts.

    Re: LG Door Slack

The customer did say she bought the 7Kg machine so it would take a king size duvet. That might explain the retainer problems but what about the door movement?

Yes, I checked for play at the hinge and it seemed fine.

Yes, they never warn you that a machine is out in a shed or whatever. I nearly got frostbite changing a belt on a White Knight this week. It was about -5 outside and much the same in the paper-thin cheapo shed where the machine lives.

I had a similar experience and stopped using them.

    Re: Whirlpool door seal

How does that work then? I just went into the Whirlpool site and it directed me to http://www.4whirlpool.co.uk for spares. They have their own part numbers and list it as 5031-6830-1900-8. They list the same one as fitting model AWO/R4205. Now I changed the seal on an AWO/R4205 two weeks ago. I used the 481246068527 and it was identical to the original. (minus the tear) 😕
