You need to check the tacho wires. The tacho is a motor speed sensor, consisting of a magnet mounted on the motor spindle and a coil mounted on the motor casing. Trace the wires from the coil to the motor multi pin socket and onward, looking for damage. The wires only poke into the motor plug so can get pulled out.

You should find that the element is mounted on a letter-box shaped panel that can be removed complete with element.

They don’t always come with the switch attached. Possible ones used on the Format range include SW1099 and SW1153. If you can transfer the switch part you could get a universal type with the same temperature range as marked on the panel.

I thought Vodaphone was £15/month? I suppose these deals you see on the telly where you pay £35/month but get a free laptop probably work out about the same if you only keep the contract for the minimum term.

It should be easy enough to determine how much of the water ends up in the tank. You weigh the clothes when they first go in and again when they are dry. You then compare the weight difference with the weight of water in the tank.

The official position regarding 2.5 mm flex is that it is too big to go in a 13 amp plug.

    Directory Enquiries (actual transcript)
Caller: ‘I’d like the number of the Umney Fish Bar in Cardiff please’.
Operator: ‘I’m sorry, there’s no listing. Is the spelling correct?’
Caller: ‘Well, it used to be called the Rumney Fish Bar but the ‘R’ fell off’.
    😆

If the people are in your patch you should tell them so you get their future repair business. Otherwise, leave it be.

This sort of question tends to be outside the experience of most engineers as we either do diagrams before taking off wires or swap wires one at a time from the old component to the new one. We don’t attempt to memorise which wire goes where.

I usually improvise something with duct tape and/or foam pipe lagging. Servis washer dryers were a good one for rubbing holes in the hoses from valves to dispenser.
