ParticipantRe: Homespares
Yes, they seem to be up to the same tricks as Connect, such as pricing their pattern parts dearer than genuine. I ordered 2 individual CESET carbons, part No. 50266742001 as they worked out cheaper than a set of their own 4165. FHP Hotpoint carbons in holders are nearly twice the price at Homespare compared to Masterpart.

ParticipantRe: Acount problems connect
I only stay with Connect because they carry a bigger range of parts than anyone else. If you tell them where to stuff their account you will be the loser in the end because on some parts your only option will be getting parts by special order from one of the smaller suppliers.

You could poke it with your light sabre….or even your heavy sabre 😆

ParticipantRe: Rogue customer
I have no problem with cheques as I’ve never had a bouncy one. I am finding with the increased number of BER machines it can be difficult to get the call-out charge from customers who have also got to find money for a new machine.

You only need to Google it 😆

The reason I suggested they get Hotpoint to do the repair was that I have to give a guarantee on the work I do, normally 3 months. I don’t trust these modules to last 3 months so I avoid doing them where possible. This one is a welded tub machine so perhaps the bearings will fail before the replacement module 😆

I would try a new pressure hose. There may be a pinhole that you can’t see.

I had discounted the possibility of tacho problems, assuming dopper can tell the difference between an uncontrolled spin and one controlled by the electronics.

The saga continues 👿 The switch assembly arrived today and it seems to be the correct one. It does not appear to be new though :rolls: The first thing I noticed was lots of burn holes around the base of the switches where a soldering iron has been poked in to unsolder wires from the double sided PCB. I suppose Connect had sold it previously and taken it back as a return. The customer has waited so long now that I was going to use it like that anyway but then I checked the slide switches to see if they operate properly. The multi position motor speed switch is jammed solid so there’s no way I can use the part. :bang:
Looks like that’s another thing to look out for with Connect. This was in a proper Whirlpool box but obviously not a pristine part.Phidom
ParticipantRe: wf541 hotpoint
I would think it’s the motor. The diagnostics are probably blaming the triac because the tacho readings don’t match those expected.

ParticipantRe: Ignis Cooker Hood
I’ve been out of action for a while due to bereavement. I put in a PNE with Connect but they say there are 8 versions of the hood and they need a service number. I suspect this is a very early version but the numbers have been defaced so I don’t have the service number. I actually took the old and new switches to both Connect premises (warehouse and the new Talbot Way offices) but that was a waste of time as they were extremely unhelpful 🙁

ParticipantRe: Yet another gripe at connect.
Has anyone tried the online payment facility? I just tried to do it but got a “Page not found” message. The Connect site has been giving loads of trouble for the last week or so anyway. At one stage I could not access the site. Connect told me to delete the URL from my bookmarks list, type the address manually and re-enter it in bookmarks. This did work but the site certainly seems to have gremlins still 🙁

I’m planning to trade my heap of Fiat Doblo rubbish for a Ford Transit Connect at some stage but not any time soon.

If it’s the sort with a DC motor there’s another small module in the bottom of the machine.
