Re: running modern L.G. washer on generator.

Your friend is right if you run it through an ups some will produce a pure sine wave (but you have to make sure they’re pure sine wave) so you can run computers and electronic equipment etc.
Just to give you an idea i installed a 3kw pure sine wave inverter/ups on my dads narrowboat so we could use electronic equipment on board it runs off either a standard generator, battery bank or 240v shore power it sorts it all out no worries and is a brilliant piece of kit but it cost £1800 and anywhere near 2.5kw it starts to let you know your pulling a lot of power.
It’s not an easy or cheap fix and may void any warranty on the appliances.
Sounds like your getting yourself involved in a big expensive headache.

Hi, The only reason i can think of is if the generator does not produce a pure sine wave (which most do not unless they’re the expensive ones) then it can and often does play havoc with the electronics because of the fluctuations it produces.

I should check the generator out to make sure it is compatible.

Sounds strange i wonder if its just throwing up the old error code and the board needs resetting or something like that.

Usually rinses light will flash within a couple of seconds from not recieving a signal from the tacho. Is the tacho ok on the motor you’ve fitted? could be cracked or bad connection just guessing to be honest.

Re: The Future…….. is there one for this industry.

I also think he as a point the bigger business have the money backing them big contracts, spares, tech info the all singing/dancing websites etc etc plus multi million pound company’s backing them so they can ride it out a hell of lot longer, which in turn will place them in a stronger position in the future. smaller one man bands have lower overheads so although they will struggle they wont struggle or have as much pressure as the medium size company’s who have all the overheads of keeping shops, offices, vans on the roads and people in jobs that is a lot of pressure to deal with especially with some of the rates on offer.

It would be of great benefit and significance if we was classed as a profession i totally agree. Although most of us are already more qualified/experienced then some of our counterparts in other profession’s just look at some of the messes and disasters they leave behind that we see on a daily basis by so called professionals they should be ashamed of themselves! But people rate them above us makes my blood boil.

As for the future we will always be needed in some form of capacity or another.

Water intake / pressure switch fault. I’ve seen loads usually a blockage in the circ pump stopping the pressure switch activating. Nice easy job 8)

    Hi,

Have you tried clearing/seeing if there is any blockages in the pressure chamber/bottle situated on the front of the drum just under the door seal and checking the level from there?

My memory is not that great but follow the pressure hose i think it goes to the main board on the front which incorporates the pressure switch if so DON’T blow up it to test you will scrap the board for sure!
