Re: Hotpoint WF340 – all lights flashing

Thanks for that – I eventually got the machine out – after lots of huffing and puffing and cursing of kitchen fitters – the woman then turned around and said “yes my son fitted our kitchen out at Christmas time…” oh well she knows the truth now… 😳
Not such a good job, leaking pipe and very definate sewer smell that filled the kitchen when I eventually got the machine out….

I thought it might be the motor at first as insulation was down to 5Meg but a quick clean sorted that. Yep largish cap on the board was domed and obviously not good – new cap getting fitted…..

You can get it to work she showed me, if you’re persistent enough it accepts the programme and spins away merrily

    Re: Lamona

Lamona: be careful. I’ve had two recent contacts with this brand.

First an under counter integrated fridge which a landlord purchased to replace a BER one – the quality was to say the least – pants – not really happy with it and even warned the Letting agents and LL that it was garbage and won’t last long. eg – hinges so thin and flimsy, they are never going to take the weight of the door, trim and contents for very long. That was a Beko job. I actually used to think Beko were ok in the grand scheme of things when it comes to modern quality standards but this was awful….

Secondly I had to try and find an outer door glass for top oven for a new Lamona double oven. It was smashed during install on 13 December. Turned out to be a Stoves badge job – absolutely no spares in the country. Stoves told me parts due in 8 Feb but couldn’t give a price. I rang on 8 Feb and cost of glass over £85.00 – no trade discount as I don’t have an account with them. Got the LL to purchase part and I fitted it. The quality was well pants !!!

I have an account with Howdens and regularly look at the appliances in there. The quality varies greatly so tread carefully. Oh and as it’s a trade store the price varies – I got quoted £340.00 for an intergrated fridge, then got it down to £295 but the LL who buys more on account got it for £225.00…………

On the drying side of tripple vavle. Just make sure water is getting through – remove hose from the valve to top of drum/condenser and switch on – make sure water is coming through. It could be a blocked valve (if I remember rightly they have an insert on the vavle outlet ) that restricts the flow. The restricters get blocked or fall out. I think it turns it into a spray to aid cooling and condensing.

    Updated Indesit/Hotpoint sites:

    Delivery policy.

    · Next day guaranteed if order is placed before 3pm
    · Would require signature on delivery (they will leave around the back if you ask)
    · Would skip a day if order placed after 3pm
    · Delivery times between 8am – 6pm

At £15.00 for next day delivery – they didn’t deliver next day and refunded the £15.00.

I’m afriad I can’t find anymore info. Definately only 1 stat listed, white C00116598 and the one heater kit C00281561 (obviously the old part nos apply). So I can olnly presume it should be 2.3kw with white spot CO kit.

Unless some one who has full access to servicenet can help.

Re: Customer gets discount from Hotpoint spares.

I do not know what has happened recently at Inde group but they have been incredably helpful. Before, without an account I would have to persuade them to give me discount or I had to fax/email the order through so they could confirm I was trade. I ordered some stuff last week and they were unaturally helpful. Got the discount with no hastle, e-mail address for a “personal contact ” that I could e-mail for quotes any time. Ordinarily you get 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount on prices quoted on inde/hotpoint service sites.

I’ve been making a point of cross checking their price against suppliers with some surprising results. Only thing is next day express dilivery is £15.00 and snail post is £6.00 so got to weight up that cost.

Mind you, I think that has a lot to do with changes at a certain supplier I’m having serious thoughts about ending business with. Their prices have gone stupid of late…….

    Re: Another joke.

Two old men decide they are close to their last days and decide to have a last night on the town. After a few drinks, they end up at the local brothel.

The madam takes one look at the two old geezers and whispers to her manager, ‘go up to the first two bedrooms and put an inflated doll in each bed. These two are so old and drunk, i’m not wasting two of my girls on them. They won’t know the difference.’

The manager does as he is told, and the two old men go upstairs and take care of their business. As they are walking home the first man says, ‘you know, i think my girl was dead!’

‘dead?’ says his friend, ‘why do you say that?’

‘well, she never moved or made a sound all the time i was loving her.’

his friend says, ‘could be worse, i think mine was a witch.’

‘a witch?? Why would you say that?’

‘well, i was making love to her, kissing her on the neck, and i gave her a little bite, then she farted and flew out the window… Took my teeth with her!’

    Re: Impatient customer

Early morning/late calls be a pain. They are getting fewer and fewer as we’ve both encouraged our customers to use mobile number (seperate work phones – we’re both self employed). It has made a noticeable difference but a lot of people still prefer a landline number for various reasons. If we do get early/late calls, unless we recognise the number we tend to ignore it. If, for what ever reason we take a late call and I consider the time to be too late I will now tell them it’s too late. If you would like to call back at a more sociable time etc etc… I used to be bothered about it but I’m just getting thicker skinned. I’m becoming a grumpy old man… 😀

    Re: Impatient customer

The guy turned out to be ok and quite pleasant face to face. Turns out he used to be an engineer in the RAF but couldn’t understand why his Hoover WM door wouldn’t stay on. (classic Hoover door hinge fault) He wasn’t really there bless him, a bit of Alzheimer’s coupled with a hugh “drunks” nose.

After the job I enquired what happened to the other guy?? The GOM wouldn’t really elaborate other than he saying didn’t get back to me again quick enough on Saturday evening.

To cut a long story short – Saturday was their day for washing and they couldn’t live with breaking their routine. These incredibly busy pensioners eh…!! Bless em 😀

    Re: More New Faulty Elements

If I’ve had an element any length of time or the insulation is low, I have a jump lead (mains cable with spade connectors on it). I’ll quite often just put the jump leads on and heat the element up slightly for a few seconds. Let it dry and test a few minutes later. Alternatively if the oven is on at home I just shove it in there for a few minutes. All done safely at home before I go out most of the time.. Not a great fan of disconnecting the earth to dry elements. I try and remember to insulation test any element before fitting….. had a few doggy ones and my garage (storage) is cold and damp and I know I can have an element in stock from a few days to months at a time……. but yes some pattern ones are not great….

The Inde and Hpt sites must be reasonably new – could be good for part numbers. I’ve just checked two part numbers for a couple of items and initially they are not that badly priced as some. Even better than a certain parts supplier I use (less and less often as time goes by)… I wonder what their “normal” delivery is like??

    Hi TM,

Thanks for your help. Had the baffle non-alignment problem before but pretty sure that showed up as fault all light flashing.

Sounds like the heater. I’ll go to Bryan (R600a) for spares. He’s very reliable and a good selection of spares. I’ll let you know I get on.
