    Re: SK88800I

I’m quite lucky. I don’t buy individual components. Locally there’s an electronics engineer. He charges me £10.00 including the parts for minor repairs to PCB’s – sounds a lot but save me a lot of hastle – he always has the parts in stock and normally turns them around for me in a few hours…. couldn’t ask for more. 😀 😀

    Thanks, Dave.Don.

I’m just waiting on the go ahead from the Landlord – so I’ve still got a bit of time before I order it.

    Any one else??

Just to close this one and for any future searches.

    Spares direct from the maker.

Re: Integrated Appliances – Door on Door/Door slider options

Hi Don, Went for a Door on door in the end after being assured by a local supplier (that I use quite a bit) that it would fit even with the handless doors. (more choice of door on doors)

I got an Ik2410 in the end. Couldn’t really push it much further cost wise. I struggled to persuade the boss that it was worth the extra money for a Liebherr.

Well……What can I say ?… The word quality is not enough. I used to be able to lift the old Baumatic in and out myself regularly. I could not cope with the Liebherr, definately a two man lift. Had to have new woodwork in the base of the work unit to support the weight. (it was in a pretty bad state from compressor tray spillage from the old one…

Just so quiet, so cool and cooled down so quickly. Hugh evaporator plate at the back. The Baumatic had 14g and the Liebherr has 48g of refrigerant. I know it’s no just the quantity of gas etc etc…..

The boss is so pleased I even got some bottles of ales on the Friday shop, normally only a Christmas shopping job. The new Franke sink and tap also probably helped. Two new top quality kitichen appliances in the same day, just short of £1K.

Now Liebherr fridge to compliment the Liebherr freezer. Next target, ISE 10… 😀 😀 😀 😀

So long story short – slider door to door on door should be ok and Liebherr are the dogs gonads and the Tangle Foot is great

    Thanks for the help Steve

    AEG/Lux SK88800i/PNC 923521608

Fault: When the fridge door is opened, the light swithces on/off and a relay clicking sound is heard. Also, if trying to change a setting it also appears to have the same affect.

Probably relevant to other simlar models.

Faulty component was the 1uF power capcitor.

Thanks and full credit to electrofix as detailed in this thread here

…wow both my pictures and hyperlink worked for a change.. 😀

    thanks boselecta,

four years ago for me as well. I was not in any way having a go at any individuals who work Comet. It was definately a manangement policy problem, not with individuals. 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the guys were great and even most of the management were not too bad as indivuals. As managers they just kept to company policy make money at all costs, it is after all quite a cut throat business ar times….

I won’t go on about, fix it at any cost and tumble dryer fires and write it off, ‘cus D&G are paying and you’ll get a first time fix jobs, they all went against my basic instincts….

So Helo, you still telling me non gas Q’d guys aren’t fixing electrical faults on DF/Gas cookers….. I doubt it doesn’t happen at all, it just might be more prevelant in remote/deep field areas…….

    Hi Dave,

You were spot on fella. Removed and tested the 1uF cap and it was down to .6uF – replaced it. Fitted the pcb this afternoon and it works a treat. I owe you a pint

I’ll put this thread on the simple PCB repairs sticky later when I upload the piccies.

    Thanks again.

    Re: baumatic gas hob

according to Comet you can, we used to have this argument until we were blue in the face. It came to a head one day at a engineers training day, when the subject got quite heated. The head Whitegoods Guy wasn’t really winning the argument and the Centre manager basically told us “it wasn’t a gas issue we had to do it or else”. He went on to to ask every single gas engineer in the room if they disagreed with him??? Not one did and most of them were normally quite vocal on any subject. His (Centre managers’) last words were you either repair DF appliances or get another job……strangely, when asked he would not put this in writing

go on, who’s going to be the first non-Gas Safe(Ex Corgi) engineer to come one here and tell everyone they have never, ever changed a fan element, door handle or fitted a knob or any part to a DF or gas appliance.

Now, however for me it is a rare exception for me to go near a DF app now but I did in the past. I had no choice…

Around me, there are no immediate suppliers of WG parts, I know most of the CKR 1 Q’d guys and if it’s a DF app and they need a non gas part, they’ll come to me for it. Most of the time they also want me to fit it…..or used to. Work is that scarse, they’ll come and buy an element and go and fit it now

attach a fly lead to the motor to run it directly from the mains-might be easier to remove it and secure the motor then test it….. get back and let us know…

I was looking at a Leibherr IS2420, Neff K5624X7 or Seimans KI24RA50GB – I’ve been offered a Gorneje RI4225W which comes with a 5Yr warranty. The others I believe are 2 year warranties.

    Thanks Steve

    Re: PAT Testing

“Competent Person” as defined in the IEE code of practice. (for in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment)

A person possessing sufficient technical knowledge or experience to be capable of ensuring that injury is prevented. Technical knowledge or experience may include

    1. adequate knowledge of electricity
    2. adequate experience of electrical work
3 adequate understanding of the system to be worked on a practical experience of that class of system
4 understanding the hazards that may arise during the work and precaustions that need to be taken, or
5 the ability to recognize at all times whether it is safe for work to continue

Refer to Reg 16 of EaW Regs and HSE purblication HSR 25

I read it as basically if you have the skill and experience you don’t need formal training. I’ll try and look into it a bit more this evening if I get a bit of time. However, I ‘ve been told of a number of larger insurance companies and some companies are stipulating “formally qualified testers” should conduct PAT testing. I know the C&G Q is nationally recognised. Not seen it myself….

Hope that helps – see what I can dig up later..

    Re: PAT Testing

hurray, evenually took my much delayed part part 2 of of C&G 2377 this evening qualification (long story, been waiting 3 weeks to take my second exam) (yes that meant I could not have beer during the match)
93.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} & 97.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} for both papers. Now I just need a tester. PLI was amended to specifiy PAT testing but Zurich said “technically” I was covered anyway.

I know this has hugh possibilites but any pointers/suggestions for Testers – or even ones to avoid.

I have work lined up just need the kit now….

    thanks

    Steve
