    Re: Troublesome ADP8242

    Still no joy 🙁 🙁

Dispenser solonoid appears to be fine, tried attaching a couple of different valves that I know are good – re-setting pcb between each attempt.

I’d suggest a very close inspection of the drain pump. Impellor could be loose. I’ve even seen a shaft that was loose inside the rotor magnet!
    Mike.

I will have another look at the pump but I removed it yesterday to ensure there were no blockages. I then attempted to get it to work with absolutely no water in the sump of any pipework. thanks..

I’ve tested the p/s, diaphragm works fine and switch is electricaly good opening/closing when it should.

I will try all the edge connectors to the pcb and check wiring more closely tomorrow morning as I’ve got some spare time.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Re: hpt WM62 hangs

Hi guys, thanks for help much appreciated.

I did ask all the usual pre-diagnosis questions, especially as it was initial install (after their house move). Customer assured me all water was on, etc etc.

Walked in, turned to rinse part of cycle, turned on and hummmmmmmmmm…….. no cold supply, faulty tap, was filling on hot only for wash and hanging on rinse..

Did you not notice the humming sound ? I asked…. oh yes but didn’t think it was important. You should have told me and we could have sorted it on the phone and saved a callout fee……… nice easy job for me 😀 😀 😀 😀

Just to put the knife in the bearings are on the way out and I’m going back to do the bearings for them 😀 😀

    Re: Troublesome ADP8242

    Hi Chris,

I did consider that and it was going to be my next step this afternoon but was pressed for time. What initially put me off was the “normal” service from the PCB. I’ve read about the solonoid problem before but never come accross it myself…. there’s hardly any Smeg appliances around here…..

I just know you’re going to be correct…… pretty reasonable quality applaince and determined to save it if I can. The customer is a good aquantance as well so doubly important…..

    I’ll let you know…

    tks

Thanks for that guys. Makes me feel a lot better. I’m always a bit weary about jobs like this out of the blue.

Spoke to customer tonight, new fridge/freezer required as she tried to defrost it “the quick way” (her words) with a knife on Christmas eve….pssssssssssss.

Belated happy new year to all

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

I had one last Friday. Customer rang during the day while I was out. She spoke to my wife and asked if I would come out and have a look at her WM as it was not spinning. Customer asked if callout and inspection was free….er no…My wife explained that I do not do free callout and inspections…customer wasn’t happy…wanted to speak to me when I came back in. As requested, called her and explained I’m not doing a 25 mile round trip for nothing….. I then got a mouthful of verbal that went along the llines of… “I’m a mother of 8 (yes eight!!) and I’ve just come out of hospital after the birth of my last child…. I think it’s disgusting that you won’t come and and look at my WM without charging me??? It’s your job. I’m a mother of 8, you can’t charge me…. and on and on interspersed with expletives……… I thought I’ve got spare bricks at the bottom of the garden, I can let you have a couple for free to use on your husband !!!!!! I didn’t go out to her and have not heard back… 8 kids!!!

Why isn’t she being prosecuted for wasting police time???? 👿 👿

Customers: love ’em and hate ’em….. 😕 😕

I do feel for the engineer concerned – even when you know you are innocent, being accused of something like that is a bit of a kick in the ba”s….

Moan and winge about their £260.00 Indi WM…… winge, winge winge, that’s all I had for the best part of an hour….I’ve paid all this money on this WM….blah blah blah……… I’ve just spent £6000 on a new bathroom, I don’t need the expence of a new washing machine!!!!

” I thought you rented ?” I asked Inquisitively, knowing full well she was a tenant. Oh yes but the landland was happy for me to put a new bathroom in and it is absolutely gorgeous!!

£6K on a bathroom and you don’t even own the chuffing house but only £260.00 on an Indesit WM !!!!!! 😯 😯 😯 😯

    It beggars belief !!!!!
