I have read ERT for what seems most of my life and never once subscribed! every year or so you get a subscribe or miss out type warning letter, which I ignore and maybe miss a few copies then the trial subscription starts over again and hey 20 years has passed that way.

You’re lucky Mark, that didn’t happen to me. I ignored the ‘subscribe now’ warning a couple of years ago and that was it; they stopped arriving and never returned!

    Re: 2nd Machine

Have just managed to sell my first machine yesterday. It’s been difficult as so far everyone wanting a new machine has either wanted a washer dryer, or has been a landlord wanting cheaper machines. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a run of sales.

Re: Candy Frost free – Was over icing up now stopped cooling

If the motor is running but the evaporator isn’t getting cold it has to be either
    no refrigerant,
    blocked system
condenser fan not running, but there isn’t one on these, or
    compressor not pumping.

It’s NOT A GOOD IDEA TO TEST FOR A GAS LEAK WITH A NAKED FLAME on an R600a [which is butane] system unless you’ve got good public liability and life insurance 😯 . If you just happened to time your test when the leak occurred and the butane concentration in the air was wrong you could blow the customer’s house up. The probability of this happening is very small though as the leak will already have occurred or you wouldn’t have been there. Some of the gas can stay in solution in the oil though and be released later.

R12 and R134A don’t burn. if you put a flame to them they change into mustard gas producing choking fumes. R49, the R12 replacement, contains both R134A and Iso-butane.

How true an observation that is 😉 I cringe when someone phones me and says “Do you fix Servis washers….mate?”

That gives me a clue for starters…………. 🙄

it’s not as bad as “Do you do free call-out MATE?” 🙄

I’ve got the manual for this model; wiring and schematic diagrams, exploded views, parts list, etc. If you pm me your email address I’ll issue an order to the wife to scan it and send it to you.

I’ve got a few spare magnets for tachos that look similar to this. if you can email me a photo of the tacho coil and the part of the magnet that’s left I’ll see if I can find one. I’ll pm you my email address.

Couldn’t you have replied a bit quicker? Customer’s without her dishwasher.

Seriously though folks, I take it that that reply indicates that from your experience it’s not feasible to dismantle the motor and a replacement is necessary.

    Re: Tecnik TKL925.

I discovered something else to watch out for on these machines the hard way yesterday. Don’t inadvertently insert the wash heater element upside down, and it will go right in upside down, as it’s very difficult to get back out again. You only realise it’s upside down when the terminals end up almost touching the outer tub!
I don’t know if this problem applies to both sizes of heater; I discovered it on a model with a shallow heater backplate. Some models have a deeper one.
