Re: LIEBHERR Fridge / Freezer problems

F2 is the fridge evaporator sensor but sometimes this can come on if too much ice has built up in the freezer section.

It is worth carrying out a 48 hour defrost with the doors open first to see if this cures the problem as when the sensor fails the fridge normally fails to cool.

It sounds like the original fault of not cooling enough was due to ice on the freezer evaporator and after leaving it turned off it has fully defrosted and is now working ok.

It would help if you can give the make and model then I may be able to let you know the possible fault causing it to ice up.

Go careful as some estate agents try not to pay for the job if the tenant fails to pay the rent.

You could try phoning AWS they will most likely be able to. Give you the correct dimensions for this model.

On this model as long as no water has got onto the electrics then the only thing that would trip the Rcd would be the Compressor.

This would not be a cheap or DIY job to replace the compressor.

If you have had it standing for a couple of days the electrics would have dried out so it is most likely a compressor fault.

Should be LGE5210JA3004A. Or connect part number 5031687876775.

Common fault pipe starts to crumble and split anytime after 5 years old from the valve to the water tank due to the heat from the compressor.

It is normally the same size pipe used on the water supply on LG American fridge freezers but the part number above is cut to the correct length.

If you cannot get a pcb or fan or it is too expensive.

An alternative way to repair is a 240v fan wired up direct to the compressor relay.

I fitted one to one of my customers as he was going to scrap it as he did not want to spend much money on it.

I revisited the same customer three years later for another appliance and it was still working fine no with problems.

It operates different as it only runs at the same time as the compressor and not temperature operated but as it is to keep the round condenser and compressor cool there is only a need to cool it when the compressor is working.

It just needs a universal fan you can modify to fit.

You cannot fit a universal if it has an inverter compressor as it would not cool enough.

If it has an inverter compressor then it is a newer model and worth fitting a pcb and fan motor if required.

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

A woman is trying to claim 20 million pounds from Argos for a child seat recall, As she is distressed from the shock she has been using a faulty child seat.

I wonder how long it will be before the same happens with Whirlpool.

In the unlikely event the Argos claim succeed’s then I would not hold out much hope for Whirlpool as no child seat had caused any injury or damage but Whirlpool has.

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

It sounds like she had a hot point on it. 😀

You should have advised her to phone Whirlpool and tell them of her problem and ask them if it was safe to use with this problem until January.

You could have also advised of whirlpools offer to replace would most likely be cheaper than a repair.

You could have also then advised not to use it even if whirlpool said it was o.k.

That way you would have a clear conscience and sounded professional.

Re: Thoughts on what leave will mean to us?

On most of the high end cost appliances that people now have repaired then the gap between repair and new will increase.

So it will make more sense to repair even if repair cost increase.

More people now replace the cheaper appliances and buy new so the gap is not so big on the cheaper appliance’s but not many people have the cheaper ones repaired.

So hopefully work should increase for repairers.

Still as from December I will not have to worry as I will be retiring.
I am already slowing down and no longer carry out any contract work.

This is where the problem may arise as Manufactures, Insurance Company’s and work providers will be looking to save money at the contractors expense.

Good for repairers as more people will have appliaces repaired if new is more expensive.

You also need to check to make sure you have not pulled any wires off the mains terminal Block when replacing the element.

It sounds like it has lost the refrigerant or the compressor has failed.

Or if you did not leave it to stand to let the oil drain back into the compressor you may have a blockage in the system.

The compressor has failed or it has lost the refrigerant.

Not a DIY or cheap repair
